The good comrades of Norinco are now making a retro clone of the original AR-15. It has a pencil barrel that is hammer forged and chrome lined. The barrel is 20 inches long and chambered in 5.56mm caliber.

The price is only $500. Yes, the handguard and stock look goofy; but with GI furniture this would be a very interesting rifle.

I would like to get one just for the upper receiver assembly.

I'm not sure what all Yee did, I think he might have, but I'm pretty sure I've read Norinco was involved in trying to sell guns and maybe RPGs to like the Crips or some crazy ass crap like that. It wasnt anti gun propaganda or anything. Stood out b/c it seemed a real WTF kinda thing to do.

Don't know about the RPGs, but full-auto AKs to California street gangs is what I remember. HK may hate us, but they're not Norinco stupid. It was Bill Clinton's wet dream.

The gun industry in the US is partially thriving because the Chinese market has very limited penetration due to regulations.

Can you imagine if other products at factories you used to work at also had such protection? Why are lead and chemical contaminated food toys and shirts allowed to enter into this country from China and we seem to only send send empty containers to theirs?

Well, I'd be down for one if they were available here and came with USGI type furniture. The 20" A1 type rifle has always been my favorite AR variant. They are just so light, handle well and the stock is just the right length. If not for the issue of optics, M-16A1/SP1 clones would probably make up about 90% of my collection. I've always preferred the look and feel of the A1 over the A2.

And the internals are probably fine. The New Zealanders look down on Chinese ARs, but think they have to pay nearly double your cost b/c of NZ's import tariffs. @ $1000, the CQ doesn't look as good a deal.
