I run an average of 2500kbits on my cable modem, versus 28.8 on a GOOD day before.  Jeesh, could NEVER go back.  Only drawback is, many websites (like this one) serve slower than I can receive.  But for FTP, newsgroups[;)] etc., it's indispensable.
