Shawn,
It sounds like your browsing threw one of those sites that adds hyper links to words so that you can click on them and it will take you to another site to learn about something or see something related to that word. I forget the name of the website but it basically hyperlinks every word of text. You can use it as a go-between to view other sites as well. Maybe you are in some sort of time-space continuum?

Later,
John

My first take on this was that you were on drugs, Garryowen.

However, I put my tech support skills to work, and I think I know what you're talking about.

I bet you've got some adware on your machine that's working with your web browser to make certain words into links that try to sell you things.

Download and run Lavasoft Ad Aware.  I actually reccomend this to anyone who's active on the internet.  Good to run once a month or so, or if you notice something strange.

Sounds like your computer got infected with Gator or one of the other programs that hijacks your browser.  These programs are sometimes included with "free" file-swapping software or other "free" downloads.

Good luck getting rid of it.

download ad-aware and run it.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

also do a search on your machine for "gator" and remove it although ad-aware should find it.

once adaware runs...it will probably tell you that there are multiple tasks that it could not kill and to reboot your machine......write the names of the tasks down and kill them (ctrl+alt+del  "end task") one at a time after the reboot....then run ad aware again....good luck.

There is a program called "Top Text", and another one I can't remember the name of (maybe SmartTags?) that makes certain words hyperlinks for your surfing enjoyment (hah!).  It supposedly makes it easier for you to find more information on things that you are interested in.  Just go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall it.  [;)]

That's it!!  I was hoping that this wouldn't happen.  You're coming down with Post-BRC Traumatic Shock.  The only known cure is to come to Texas in October and undergo some serious Class III therapy.
