Three different gmail accounts. Didn't get that email...

Maybe they nailed it before it got to me. Also possible it has nothing to do with gmail.

This will probably spread pretty fast. All it will take is one person to open it up and then it sends it out to their whole friends list.

Over the years I have learned that it is very hard to get a virus unless you open unexpected attachments from people. If you don't open links sent to you in emails, bad things don't happen to you very often. I rode the net 'bareback' for 4 years recently until I got a virus, making it only the second time I have ever got one-it was attached to a file I was expecting from someone I know. The other time came from a file/pic  that was sent via Yahoo IM and the virus infected me before I even had the chance to click on the link for the pic, so in both cases a virus program wouldn't have done much for me but slow my computer down badly and hog resources.

Friend got a gmail account hacked, everything was erased, including contacts.  Then it sent out an "i'm stranded, send money" email with her name used several times.  This was the primary email for a race team, sponsors and all.  Needless to say, i downloaded Thunderbird as soon as that happened in order to backup all my existing contacts and emails from gmail.  Just back it up every other day or so

I use Google for searching and nothing else. No Gmail, no desktop, no Chrome, nada.

I find it intrinsically risky to put that much info under one roof.

my craigslist account was hacked yesterday.  I woke up this morning and had 86 new posting for everything you can think of.  All in California.
