The only thing that kept me away, up until I bought my first (G 42) was the 2x4 grip.
Yes, I'm a 1911 fanboy.

I bought a G 17.  I shoot it, but I still don't like it.
But, I'm trying!

I'm big.  6' 3"... I have large hands, and long fingers.

I don't know how small people shoot them.

Maybe it's my 1911 training? I'm just used to it.

Whatever it is, I wish they offered one.

A fullsize 9mm single stack is retarded. The whole point of getting a full size 9mm is the extra boolits.
If you want full size single stack stick to the 1911.

Plus, why is it retarded to have a gun that is enjoyable to shoot?

I have smallish hands and find the 9mm Glocks perfectly comfortable.  The 45 Glocks on the other hand........

I just don't see a market for it.  Smith continued to build single stack nines after they came out with the 59.  They languished, to the point they've become minor collector's items.  SIG made the 220 in 9mm.  Likewise not a big seller.  And 9mm 1911's don't exactly fly off the shelves either.

I'm selling my G43 because the grip is too short, even with the Pearce extended magazine. Looking at the Springfield EMP4, single stack 1911 design 9mm, but built around the 9mm, not a .45 design with modified mags and barrel, et al. 10 rd. magazine. I don't like the feel of wide grips in my hand. I confess I am used to the 1911 as I have an arsenal in .45 ACP's going back to the mid 70's. I just want a 9mm without having to go with the full size 1911. Springfield seems to have nailed it with the EMP models. I also would like to see a Glock with a 10 rd. single stack and 4" barrel.

Have the backstrap filled and reprofiled to take down the hump.
Remove finger bumps if you don't fit them.
Texture.

Win!

this is my thought, and for as many variations that they make, it is suprising this isn't in there.

The only reason that might be a mess is that he standard trigger system won't fit in a single stack width.

Perhaps with the popularity of the 42 and 43, and their singlse stack trigger system size, this will be possible.

If they do it right, they will release a G 44 9mm, followed by a G 45 in .45 ACP

Interesting.

I find that it falls into the correct place in my hand, despite being too short. And the 42 mags don't have the pinky extension on them, either.

I use my 42 in CCW tactical class every week.

I really like the aim.  We often shoot at 50-60 feet, while moving.  It aims very intuitively.
I wish I had a 43. I will, soon.

The only issue I have is consistently dropping a mag free.

Now, I am aware of the issue, and while bringing a loaded mag to the gun in my left hand, I am ready to strip the empty mag, if necessary.

Let's face it, not many CCW incidents involve more than 7 rounds.

Even with my pinky extended like here, or wrapped underneath like when holding the gun normally, the gun feels very secure and seems to pull the tang right into the web of my thumb/palm.

Probably do.  But, they are definitely different guns.  I really would want both.

But, I would buy a single stack Glock first, based on simplicity and price.

At $500, Glocks are more like impulse buys, and 1911 are more like planned purchased

Lets be absolutely honest, single stack, any gun is dumb and only popular because of "ohh" 1911 and bans on guns over 10 rounds.

How about 7 rounds fired? Or 5 rounds fired? Does that mean all we need are J frames?

Rather than wishing for something that isn't going happen, just dig up a 3rd Gen S&W single stack nine.

Thin single stacks are fun to shoot at the range. Im not seeing an issue, because that is where the vast majority of guns actually get used.

First, the argument was made.  I just responded to why I'm not concerned with having more than ten rounds.

I carry a G 42, so I have 7 in the gun, and 2 mags of 6 (I don't always have the mag pouch, so you could say I carry 7 minimum).

Just put more rounds through it. You'll get used to it.

I've got north of 80k rounds through 1911s and can shoot a g17 just fine because I've quite a few thousand rounds through those, too.
