I just picked up a G26 and love it.  I also have night sights installed.  I went through 4 of the 33round mag dumps and about 500 rounds so far with no failures at all.

What do you think of the G26 with the 33 (+1chambered) for a home defense pistol?

I never thought I'd like a glock, but I'm really having a hard time keeping my walther p99 out of the case lately.

33 rounds is a bit excessive.

I'd prefer spare mags - they double for clearing jams too.

Wouldn't a kel-tec 16 or ar 9mm carbine hold about the same # of rounds?  If so would you use them for home defense?  Also would you carry a back up 17-33rd mag with your carbine?

I don't think it's too bulky at all, a the magazine is parallel with your shooting arm.

For home defense (if restricted to a pistol) I would go with a 19 over the 26. The sole reason is for the ability to attach a light to the pistol.

With the 26, I'd just run the 10 rnd mag inserted and topped off, plus either 15 rnd or 17 rnd mag(s) as a spare.

I debate the 19 vs. 26 for Home defense in my mind alot.

The 19 usually wins, but when it comes to something like investigating a car parked in front of your house, a 26 in a nice pocket holster is alot easier to have hidden in your pocket when you walk out to see if it's riff raff, or just kids smoking weed or fooling around.

It looks like you could actually bump fire that, if you gripped the mag with one hand and just rode the trigger with the other.  Have you tried?

I never thought about it.  Probably wouldn't work well, I shoot at an indoor range.
