Join Maricopa County Sherrifs Office. i heard they have some of them. What B.S. how can a LE Agency justify buying that kind of weapon. imagine the liability. those guns should only be in the hands of the Public.

If my numbers are correct, the Glock 17 was introduced in the US in 1985. I have no idea when the G18 was introduced, probably a year or two later.
So any G18 you could legally own as a civvie(without a C2/3 license), would have had to been a conversion of a G17 to full auto that was done before the NFA cutoff in '86. My guess is there are no fully-transferable G18 conversions. If there are, they are very few, and probably well over $10K. |

I've never heard of a transferable Glock 18. However, someome made reference on [url]http://www.subguns.com[/url] to a transferable Glock 17.
Apparently, it sold for about $20k. |

Anyone know the site where they were selling the selecter switches that affix on the rear of Glock Slides? Someone posted a link awhile back, maybe on old board.

Parts interchange. I would like to see a Glock 18 with a compensated 17L barrel. That might actually be controllable. Most autopistol to machinepistol conversions cant hit the broadside of a barn on full auto. Still exectuive protection people for some reason love the things.

Actually, they changed the slides and rail dimensions on the G18 to prevent it from fitting on a G17. The barrels probably work though.
But, there are no transferable G18s, and if there were, they'd be rediculously high priced due to their rarity. To get one, you'd need to be a gun dealer with an SOT and a demo letter. -Troy |

GSSF was here a couple months back and we got a demo on the G18. If I remember correctly there are only a half a dozen or so in the US and none are transferable.

BTW the Maricopa County S.O. Using 18's is BS one of Sherrif Joes body gaurds carries one. And im pretty sure he is not a Sherrif.

It wasn't worth it to bring it up to US importation spec, seeing as it would not sell here in the states. Think of it this way, who would choose a .380 Glock that is the same size and same mag cap as a 9x19 Glock??? But I believe there are countries in Europe that don't allow civvies to own 'military/LE' calibers such as 9mm, hense the .380 Glock. |

Another thought, I'm not big on 'machine pistols', but as Armdlbrl mentioned, a G18 with a G34 slide and a KAC grip on front (I believe they fit on the rail but don't try it without registering as an SBR!) and the 33 round mags would be a fun toy for the range...

Right; the .380s were designed for countries that can't own military calibers. However, the .380s are BLOWBACK, not Browning-style locked-breach actions, so recoil and muzzle flip are nasty and sharp compared to the more-powerful 9mm. They wouldn't sell here very well, and the .380 caliber doesn't have enough points to get into the country. Basically the same reason that PPKs have to be made here instead of imported from Germany.

Troy, on the money, again. I liked those Glock and Scherer 33 rounders so much in my 19, I sold the heavy, clunky Uzi pistol with the carnivorous trigger guard.
