I'm looking to make a little extra money somehow to support my growing interest in the shooting sports and competition shooting. I make decent money at work, but am looking to supplement that especially now that I am starting a family. We just had our first child, a daughter. I work in sales and small business management in a family business.
Skills/Interests: Mechanical ability and tools, basic wood working, shooting and light gunsmithing Any great ideas? |

Do handyman work for old people and single mothers. They spread the word around to other old folks and single mothers if you do good work.

Replace iphone screens. Cost $20-$30 for a screen, charge $100. Way cheaper than the stores do it and it takes about 20 minutes
Almost all my customers are women that my wife works with. |

You should consider delivering pizzas. The actual wear on your car/gas used is fairly minimal and if you get in at a good store the hours are flexible and money decent.

Kitten skin mittens?
Just think how soft and warm these would be. And the material is free, just check Sunday's paper. |

Put your wife to work and get the in-laws to provide child care. Or do whatever you can, preferably something you're interested in doing, to make extra money.

its not a money making scheme, but I started using bing rewards and every day I click my bingbot and I get a couple $5 gift certificates a month on amazon out of it. They go towards things like LPK's.
Custom framing can make good money occasionally. If I had a pickup right now I would just get on craigslist and go through the "free" section looking for firewood. Most folks post there to get rid of trees, that they dont want to pay to have cut down. Then go cut it, and split it and sell it next year. I know that a lot of college kids look for work with UPS or fedex making deliveries this time of year, but then you will read posts on GD about how bad you suck. |

You could convert .223 brass to 300 Blackout and probably sell it in the EE, if you already reload and have everything to do it there wouldn't be any investment cost. I wouldn't do it if you aren't already set up.

hit the craft shows in summer and the home shows in winter
I have seen guys with the stupidest stuff imaginable making a ton of money For example one guy made bird houses with copper roofs on rebar poles they sold like hot cakes for $40 each. I'm a bird guy so I asked him what the heck kinds of birds would nest in these houses as the copper heated them up so hot eggs would boil in them... He said he did not know and didn't care they were lawn ornaments....and people bought them all up every year I saw this guy for about 5 years straight. In a weekend his wife and he made a WAD of cash...and he hit all the shows in the midwest he could get into....winters he did the homes shows. You make it they will come......with cash.... |
|
1. Over the winter, find businesses that are giving away pallets.
2. Collect said pallets 3. Cut said pallets up into board length 4. Use nail gun to build "rustic" looking flower boxes, raised bed gardens etc. Literally that easy. Know a guy here who is pulling in 10k seasonally doing this and selling on Craigslist and 2 weekend fairs. |

Woodworking? at this time of the year wood pens and cutting boards.

We are getting pretty squared away and have a lot to be thankful for. Two paid for cars, no school debt, and on track to have house paid off way before our 15yr term. With some additional funds I'd like to shoot more comp matches. IDPA already and start shooting some three gun. I've shot a couple local multi gun matches. Like to shoot more and get some good training. I also have a desire to start buying some guns to put away for my daughter. It would also be nice to be able to let my wife get into her hobbies a bit more. I always feel guilty because mine are so much more expensive. Tools and guns are not cheap. |

Do you have a snowblower/good shovel? What about doing some driveways/sidewalks around you?
I have a divorced coworker who recently had shoulder surgery and whose teenager is away at college. She literally cannot find anyone to clear her driveway/sidewalks for the winter. I suggested she offer cash to a couple of male neighbors (no teenagers around her house), and she refused to, saying they had their own to do. With a good snowblower, might not take too long to do. |
