The stairs at my mother in-laws house creak by themselves like somebody is walking up and down them.
Kind of spooky since the dog stares and barks when the ceaking happens.

if you think you got ghosts and you don't want em around  just set some ghost traps.

of course if you believe in that sort of thing the real fun starts after you trap them.

Funk! Don't trap ghosts!!

They are electrical... they feed from your homes power lines. To get rid of them... turn off power for 24 hours. they will drain every battery in the house tho.  then they will leave. they need energy like us. they go where the food is.

Never saw anything but -

I was 15 when this happened.  We lived in a house out in the country, but in a very nice subdivision.  Mom was working late at the video store, and my Dad, brother, and myself were in the living room watching a movie.

I went into the kitchen to get a glass of milk.  I carried a cup over to the fridge, filled it, and closed the fridge.  As I walked back across the kitchen floor, something HIT me on my right shoulder.  I screamed like a teenage girl.

There was no one there.  Nothing had fallen, nothing on the floor except my dropped glass of milk.  I was in the middle of a large kitchen with nothing and no one around, yet something had hit me.  And it HURT.

I was scared shitless, but cleaned up the milk (glass thankfully hadn't broken).  I walked into the living room and asked if either of them had heard me scream.  Dad gave his typical smartass answer "Yeah - but we figured that if somebody killed you, maybe they'd just take your wallet and leave".

Like I said, there was nothing at all that could have caused it.  I wrote it off to some type of freak muscle cramp.  Until I woke up the next morning with a huge purple bruise all over my shoulder.

So...there's my story.

They are not in my house, but I like telling these ones anyway.

When I was 14, in middle school at recess.  I was running full speed towards the concrete steps leading into the school.  As I approached, I tripped.  I was falling very fast, my head about to impact the corner of a concrete step.  At the last second I felt a huge arm wrap around my chest and pull me backwards with enough force that I not only did not hit the steps, but I went from falling forward at a full running speed, to a dead stop and almost falling backwards.

The only person within 100 feet of me was a girl about 30 feet away.  I asked her if she grabbed me and she looked at me like I was nuts.
I praise God for that one

My parents lived in Kentucky before I was born.  On my Mothers way home from work each night she drove over a bridge that went over the interstate.  One night as she drove over the bridge she felt a kicking on the back of her chair.  Scared it was a bad guy, she quickly made her way to the nearest gas station, the chair kicking all the way.  She got to the gas station and nothing was there.  She went home and the kicking had stopped.

It happened several times.  Sometimes she heard a child giggling.  My Father researched, and found out that a child had died in an accident under that bridge about 10 years earlier.

I have had several odd ocurances in my home. When I 1st moved back after my wife left me, I would go into my bedroom to get something & the 2 touch lights on each side of the bedd would be turned on. This was in the daytime, & they have 5 settings for brightness. Both lights were set to the same setting, & I would shut them off & 10 minutes later when I went back they were both on again!

This happened constantly for the 1st few weeks I was back, & hasn't happened since.

Also one night I had a remote controlled battery powered propellar driven rocket thing I had bought for my son. It had never been charged, & was sitting on top of a cabinate infront of me. I was on ARFcom at the time, & even tho the remote had no batteries in it, I heard a noise like the VCR kicking out a tape & looked up. Nothing, then a few minutes later & it happend again, only this time I looked up to see the blades on this thing spining at a high rate of speed, & it nearly took off.

I found later it would not work at all with a partial charge. It has to be fully charged or it won't work at all. It won't turn the motor one rev unless the battery pack charger indacates a full charg, so I don't believe it was a left over trace amount of a charge, & besides like I said the remote had no batteries in it, & the thing was turned to off.

It freaked me out so bad I did a post on it then & there.

I have had other such things happen in my house, but these 2 examples come the quickest ot my memory of unexplanable occurances.

ETA: I have never believed in ghost or the para normal. I do believe in angles. & deamonds tho.

I have several stories.  but here is one of them.

In 1985 we lived in Reading PA.  One sunny Sataurday in July , I took my son for a biking ride through a park and river walk. We stopped at an area along the river path which looked as if it may have once been a dock or tie up area. After a minute or so ,all of a sudden the air temp went cold. I mean to tell you the temp dropped from 85  to about 72, it was as if you walked into an air conditioned room.  Thought it was weird  but went on our way for the remainder of the afternoon.  About 5 years later I was reading a story in a history book about the local park area , it told a story about the wife of a local riverbarge trader that had killed her children at the very spot in which we had experienced the cold air incident. The spot had been a dock area for the trader barges  and the wife had drowned her children in an act of revenge against her cheating husband.

It is and was one of those " GOOSE BUMP' on the arms experience every time I think about the story.

At my last house, you could hear someone walking around and making the floor squeak. My dog would follow the sound, growling, down the stairs and on into the basement. He did this several times. The dog would sometimes also circle a spot in an upstairs room, growling at whatever was there.

My son once told me that he could hear a woman yelling and screaming from that point in the room, but it sounded distant. I didn't believe him until my dog woke me up on night growling, and I distinctly heard a woman scream from that spot in the house. It was definitely inside the house, but somewhat faint and far-away sounding.

The house was built in 1918, so who knows what went on there .

I have several more stories too....

theres ghost in the casino I work at, its built on top of a old cemetary from the 1850s to the present, most of the graves were supposedly dug up and moved , but they didn't get all of them, plus the parking lot was paved all the way to edge of the newer cemetary area, the self serve drink area sprays soft drinks and ice out all the time, the faucets turn on by themselves, toilets flush on their own and they arn't the automatic kind, the stereo system changes chanels and the volume will blare, we turn it down and it will crank back up before we leave the office, female employees and customers complain that something grabbed their ass or kept brushing up against them when nobodys around them, and to top it off our survailance dept. has a tape that shows a man walking through several banks of machines, he stops in front of the self serve, then dissapears when an employee steps out of the door next to the machine, FWIW I've never seen the tape, but I have seen the other stuff and helped to bury people in the old cemetary, and unless they dug them up without the families permission and reburied them somewhere else, their now under the parking lot.

I'm 17 now, the only other thing I can remember was waking up to a weird Laughing, followed by Gargling...and my dog barking at the Middle of the room.

Thats it...or atleast thats all I can remember, there may have been things I just brushed off...

I lived in a old wooden two story house built in the 1870's and I use to hear the upstairs bedroom doors open and close by themselves, I even heard footsteps but nobody was home and no windows were open, so it wasnt the wind.

the house next door was abandoned and sometimes late at night I could hear conversation comming from the house?

there was also an old well inbetween our house that was filled up and boarded up.

About the strangest thing that I have gone through is thinking that my wife or daughter have come into the house, I'll hear them and 'feel' them and strike up a conversation thinking that they are in the other room only to get pissed because they don't answer, when I get up to ask them if they are deaf I find the room empty, only to realize I was alone the whole time........

This has happened to my wife and daughter also, call it a ghost or shadow people, but we have all experienced this. It's never frieghtening until afterwards, because while it's happening I swear I'm just talking to another member of my family, that's how real it feels..........

My ex-wife's cousin had the same dream.  BTW, The ex-mother in law was one of the nicest people I've ever met.  She was wonderful.

Wow, I've had dreams very simialar to that.  When my grandma and grandpa died (seperatly) I had a dream that they came to me and told me they loved me very much, and not to worry about them.  Both of those dreams were the night before I found out.

One day in the house we live in now my wife and oldest daughter were in the front of the house and my then very small middle daughter was sleeping in the back. All of a sudden someone in the back of the house called my oldest daughter's name. My wife thought she had imagined it until my daughter asked her "Who was that?".  My sleeping daughter couldn't talk yet at that time. My wife said the voice sounded like a grown woman.
We have very old wooden floors that creak and sometimes it sounds like someone is walking down the hall. Sometimes it seems like my youngest daughter is playing with someone who isn't there. She is still little. I think my wife somehow draws this stuff.
Not too long ago I was in the kitchen and somebody yelled "Dad" from the computer room. I was cutting something up and yelled back "Hold on". I walked to the computer room a minute or two later and no one was in there. I found my older daughters watching TV and said "Who called me a minute ago?". They looked at me like I was crazy.
I have had one FOR REAL encounter in my life and that shit scares me. It doesn't bother my wife.

Well,  I have quite a few.  Here's the most recent.  The full story is very long, so I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

My g/f and I just moved into a duplex, bottom floor.  Three guys lived above us.  One of the guys had just purchased a new Audi, and this was on a Friday the 13th.  Long story short, the kid with the new car goes out that night with some buddies, gets drunk, and decides to drive one of his buddies home at the end of the evening.  Well, the house that he drove to is located on a cliff above the duplex that my g/f and I live in.  Drunk as hell, he floors the car and sends it off the cliff, with himself and two of his pals still in the car.  The Audi lands on it's roof (about 150 yards from the property we live on) and ejects the driver through the sun roof.  He's pinned between the vehicle and the earth, but he's still alive until the rescue squad shows up.  Upon lifting the car off of him, he bleeds out and dies on the spot.  Luckily his two buddies survived somehow.

This is where it gets really weird..

A day after the tragedy, the g/f and I are setting up our new desk top computer.  We're sitting there messing with it, and we both feel this "cold spot" in the area of the computer.  We move the computer to a different area of the room, and the "cold spot" follows us (both of us felt it over our shoulders, but only when we went near the computer).  So now we're both kind of freaked out, but we deal.

About a week later, our closet doors are opening and closing on their own and the  area that the "cold spot" occupied has seemed to expanded, now we're experiencing it all over the house. A very starnge vibe has taken over in the apt, a very creepy feeling....

Another week goes by, and the two remaining guys upstairs move out.  A woman named Pam moves in.  Pam just happens to be some sort of "spiritual advisor", nice lady.  We tell Pam about the preceding events that led up to our present situation, and she calls one of her friends over to assess the scenario.  Her friend is a clairvoyant <sp?>, and upon her arrival to the house begins crying uncontrollably.  Finally she gets herself under control, and expalins that Craig (the kid who got killed ) is scared and doesn't know how to get home!!  *gulp*  The crazy thing is that she didn't know anything about this accident before hand, and she knew his name.  The clairvoyant expalins to us that upon this young man's death, his soul went back to the house to go to sleep because he was scared and didn't know where to go.  She released his spirit, and the strange events at our apt. came to an end.

Oh yeah, it made believers out of us

There is a ghost that haunts a high school in Louisiana. My family believes that is the ghost of my aunt.  When she was in high school she drowned saving my dads life.

My dad and his girlfriend are ghost hunters in Louisiana; you should see some of the photos and voice tapes they bring back from there trips.

As for me; there was one time I was in the bathroom saving when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. When I turned to see, it tuck off.   I was freaked because I knew I was the only one in the house. I grabbed my gun and went off looking for what I thought was some guy breaking into my house.  All the doors in the house were locked and there were no opened windows.

Way way way too many to tell, lets just say Ive had a scary life. well okay, So as we just moved to Dallas and we were in our new home, I was eight and I was messing around infront of the TV and such. Well we had just moved a short kiddie table in to the living room where I was at upstairs and I already dumped all my hot wheels cars and army men and stuff like that onto it. So I was messing around and I see my sisters door open, I think nothing of it becasue we have cats and cat owners knoow about that. So i go back to playin with my toys and al he sudden I hear and huge rumbling and look at the table and its shaking with all the toys on it violently, so I immediatly run as fast as I can downstairs to where my parents and grandparents are eating dinner and I never said a word about it until years later. keep in mind that it was a new house, in a new area of Dallas. I had much more experiences that did not include me but at that time my adult sister that scared us. I still get freaked out thinking about it.

When I was a younger I had two beds in my bedroom. My older siter and my nephew had come to visit, so I when to sleep on one bed and my nephew on the other. During the middle of the night I wake up and see "white" hands over my eyes, not covering them, but just above almost about to cover them. Thinking it was my nephew just playing a joke I call his name and tell him to stop playing. Thinking I was smart I decided to ignore him and go back to sleep. At the same time I was trying to figure out why his hands were white and I could see through them, so I did not want to open my eyes again. I went to sleep and the next morning I asked my nephew why he was playing around in the middle of the night? He said that it was not him, but he did hear me call his name..

Thats what I am thinking, lets just put it this way, I live about 60 yards from a cemetary and I feel more comfortable at this house than that other one.

eta: There is a grave in the cemetary. of one of the former owners grandson, he died when he was like 22 or something. Its kind of creepy because I think I sleep in the grandchildren room.

I was staying at Balley's in LV a few years back when I was awakened in the middle of the night by the strong acrid smell of smoke. When I turned on the light I fully expected the room to be full of smoke. The adrenaline was pumping....I looked down the hallway and nothing. Eventually I fell asleep. The next day I overheard some people talking about how this hotel used to be the MGM and was sold off and renamed after the huge smokey fire they had in 1980. Fuckin bizarre.....I had no prior knowledge of the name change.

story

MGM Grand Hotel Las Vegas hotel fire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Deadly smoke rises from the casino towards the top floors of the luxurious resort. On the morning of November 21, 1980, at approximately 07:10 PST, a fire broke out in a delicatessen at what was then the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, a world-famous, 26-story luxury resort with over 2,000 hotel rooms. The event remains the worst disaster in the history of the state of Nevada.

About 5,000 people were in the hotel and casino at the time of the fire. Smoke and fire spread through the building killing 84 people and injuring 679, including tourists and employees. There were 87 deaths total, including three which occurred later as a result of injuries sustained in the fire. Most fire damage occurred in the namesake casino on the second floor and its adjacent restaurants, although most of the deaths were caused by smoke inhalation in the upper rooms of the hotel. If firefighters had not extinguished the blaze when they did, the building probably would have been burned to the ground. As it was, the fire was considered to have been the second-worst hotel fire in U.S. history.

According to the official report by the Clark County Fire Department, the cause of the fire was an improperly grounded electrical wire. The fire smoldered for hours before breaking out, flashing through the casino area. Only a minor fraction of the hotel had been fitted with a sprinkler system which was not legally required for buildings built before 1979; the MGM Grand had opened in 1973. Guests only learned of the fire upon actually seeing smoke or hearing other guests warn them; the hotel's alarm system was destroyed before fire alarms could activate. Eventually $223 million USD in legal settlements was paid out as a result of the disaster.

The MGM Grand was repaired and then sold to Bally's Entertainment (now Caesars Entertainment) which changed the facility's name to "Bally's Las Vegas." Subsequently, the present MGM Grand hotel-casino was built about a mile south at the northeast corner of the Las Vegas Strip and Tropicana Avenue.

This is a long story, but i'll make it as short as possible.  About a year ago my dad told me a freaky story about something that had been happening to him lately. It's freaky, because my Dad doesn't bs about stuff like this. He told me that for the last few weeks he'd be sitting on the couch in front of the TV around 9:00pm -12:00am, while my mom is in the bedroom & he would see a shadow on the screen like if someone or something was walking behind him, he would also feel someone walking behind him. As he would turn to see, there was nothing there. He told me that at first he thought it was my mom, & he would call out to her thinking she was there, but no one would answer.  He told me that this started happening everynight a day after they put their apartment on sale until the day they packed up their things & moved.  He never told my mom, as she would have freaked out, lol. I told him that the "ghost" was probably pissed that they were leaving.

Long story short...we lived in an old house. One night I got up to go to the bathroom. As I walked thru the dining room, I saw someone sitting in one of the chairs at the table. I did a double take only to see nothing. However the chair was pulled away from the table and it was turned slightly. It was a cahir that we only used if company was over. And that hadn't been for a while. That chair was ALWAYS pushed up to the table. Given the time it was...(Very late, or VVery early...depending on your version) 3-4:00 a.m. I didn't sleep well after that.

That was the only ghost in the house story I have...a ghost in the grave yard is another thread altogether.

Okay time for another story. Before I was born, my parents and my two sisters lived in a very small town in kansas. The were new into town and you know newcomers, they dont know the history. So the picked out a green house that was very cheap (you know how the story goes). So when the move the go up to the attic and find all sorts of stuff left over including a doll. This doll has always freaked me out, even now. They kept a lot of their stuff for nick nacks and this is why I think I have been having these occurances all my life. Okay so now my sisters have made friends in school, so they invite them over to a sleepover and when they get to the house, all the sudden they have to go home saying that they dont want to go into the "Marcel Block" house. After that occurances happened with them like people getting into bed with them. So we haved moved all throughout kansas(greatbend, lawrence) and we are in the same house I tlaked about above in kansas. Long story short my sister went to Africa and became sick with a malaria type sickness in our house. so she was in the room where I said that the door opened by itself. After she was sick she told me about things that happened to her while she was severly bed ridden. things like the fan moving by itsself and seeing a white gost like person flying above her. Well i kond of took her seriosly but not really becasue she told me about Marcel Block, the guy that owned the house when she was little and all the ghost stuff and the doll. SO I was in her room after she was bettertalking with her and being the bratty kid I was and I ask her about the ghost stuff and said, aybe its marcel block, stupid marcell block. She then said shuut upp he'll here you, kind of in a joke way. right them I said stupid marcel block and the fan started moving and I turned around and that doll was behind me. Right then me and my 25 year old sister ran doewn stairs to my dad.
