Peons shouldn't be armed.
Link Posted: 3/17/2011 5:50:17 AM EST
Ah, yes, the privileged class. You peons still need to pay your tribute before you can carry.
Link Posted: 3/17/2011 5:55:09 AM EST
You know it's getting to that point when the ones making the laws are exempting themselves from them...
Link Posted: 3/17/2011 5:55:40 AM EST
Of course they are "more equal" than the slobs who voted them into office. Let the slobs go through the permit hassles, they are too important to bother with such trivial shit.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Bring out the tumbrils!

Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.

Sounds unconstitutional to me.

Interrogative: Can a felon or other prohibited person be elected to any public office in Georgia?
Link Posted: 3/17/2011 6:03:44 AM EST
That better be part of a strategy to restore rights to citizenry.

some animals are....

Guess it is obvious who they are looking out for.

That's retarded.

Are judges elected or appointed in GA?

I hope they are appointed and the law is written in such away where appointed officals are not covered.

In other news, sales of rope spike in central Georgia.

What the fuck?

Good on the first part but I expected better than that from GA.

I expected better from my state also.

Well they are more important than us....

Reminds me of Chicago City Council members that can not only have CCW(but no one in this state can have CCW permits, save for police and retired police) but they can have armed guards as well.

Admend the language of the bill. Instead of allowing permit-free CCW to everyone who gets elected, allow it for everyone who votes.

Some animals are more equal....That said, the CCW process here isn't all that hard to follow and obtain unless you're in Fulton Co. While the part about legislators being allowed without a permit bothers me, the whole of this law outweighs the ass-hattery of the second part. Face it folks, local/state/federal legislators feel they're better than the common folks and thus should have certain privileges. For any of you that have had to deal with some over-bearing neighbor involved in your HOA, you know the caliber of people we have in 'leadership' positions.

I'd be interested to see a breakdown of who voted for it and at the same time has an anti-gun voting record.

That was my first thought.

If it's pro-gun lobbyists then this may be the start of a beautiful thing.

If it's anti-gun lobbyists that approved it then you may need to be worried.

"Mullis [the bill and amendment's sponsor] is not shy about his predilection for carrying guns. The Constitution says the right the own guns shall not be infringed upon, and he thinks any restrictions, including having to get a license to carry a concealed weapon, is an infringement."

I think this is his way of trying to get his foot in the door for permitless carry for all, but it's still not a good way to do it.
Overall, the law does good things, though.
