Looking to get an new rifle, and had planned on getting a larue predatar in 556. I hadn’t been on their site in a while, and they are now listed as “sold out”. I contacted them by email and they said there’s no eta for selling them again. The more expensive rifles they sell are far better then I need, and I’d rather put the money towards optics.
Geissle is running their sale, how do the super duty’s compare? Either rifle is going to shoot better then I’m capable of, though I do plan on taking a couple classes with whatever I get over the next two years. The geissle having a chrome lined barrel is something I’d like, and larue wouldn’t tell me if their barrels are chrome lined or not. Sale only goes another couple days, what would you guys do? |

If you plan on waiting for Larue you will be waiting a long time.

The Geissele will have a nicer trigger anyway. Not a lot nicer, but nicer.

I can’t i imagine what it is now. I’m not in a rush, and I’m contemplating a Sam 7k anyways. It’s only because of the sale I’m wondering on which one. |

Why does it have to be one or the other?
Big G always has sales. You are already waiting for the right time to buy, might as well wait a bit more while saving your money to get it AND the optics. |

Buy OD Geissele receiver set, rebcg, Trigger, and fed rail now
Buy their barrel when it becomes available Vltor A5 buffer setup via Big Tex Ordinance and their build deal. Finish with solgw and fcd parts Have the baddest blaster around |
|
I buy LaRue stuff. Always have in the past. But lead times for them now are way too long. Ive been waiting for an SAT rail for almost 3 months now.
Get the Super Duty now while you can. |
|
If you held a gun to my head, Geissele, since ypull get it sooner rather than later. But I'd rather get a Colt oem2 (whichever has a low profile gas block) or the EPR, and fix it up with ceturion/FCD parts

Quoted: Is Geissle still bluing the barrels on an almost $2k rifle? View Quote Hah hah, this. Go LaRue or build your own. I built an AR with a 18" LaRue PredatAR barrel, it's accurate. Pretty sure they're nitrided. I did both, upper has a LaRue barrel with a Geissele barrel. That said I have Geissele rails and SLR, I prefer the SLR. Better machining and who knows probably handles a drop better. |

Two different rifles, really: a “work gun” versus a precision gun.
That said, Gs on sale. |

Have you seen the groups out of their barrels? Yeah my G (older barrel) shoots great. It doesn’t shoot half as good as my Larues, but that says more about my Larues. My G is good for roughly MOA, maybe a smidge more. It’s definitely not a blaster rifle by any means. |

On a side note Ive run my GSD with surefire can through two qualifications, and three training sessions which definitely put the gun through its paces. I cant remember an AR that Ive been issued, or owned that ran as good the the super Dooooty. Im sold. Green one in my near future. |

I’d grab an SD, they’re pretty good.
I’d pick one up myself, but I just changed jobs and my previous employer decided to play fuck-fuck games with my last check, and I’d rather not dip into savings. |

I guess I never actually gave an opinion. I like my Larues but I wouldn’t take it over the G. The G being available now and a ton cheaper just makes the choice that much easier. I’d take the G in a heartbeat. I love my 16” DDC and would love to pick up a ODG

Some things to consider.
G rifles are always in stock. G rifles usually have a few sales a year Larue doesn't really have any sales that I know of. inflation isn't going down anytime soon. apply that however you want. |

Larue would be more accurate, on average. Geissle would probably be a better all around rifle. Depends on what you want to do with it. If going from 1 MOA to 3/4 MOA is a huge deal to you, I'd wait. If you're going to mostly be shooting 855 or 193 with an aimpoint, grab a G and skip the wait.

The larue is absolutely a better firearm. So if I were you I would wait

If you’ve suddenly found yourself in the year 2013, Larue is the answer.
I wish Billiam G offered an option of a black upper with a DDC rail, with the indexing tab. |
