Here in AZ a Palestinian boy shot with an M-16 in Isreal, flown here to have the bullet removed. Story Basiclly bullet just missed heart, lodged in lung tissue near spine.

Ok, so this is a human interest story. Except for one thing. In the paper print, they showed a picture of the slug removed from the boy. I can't locate an electronic copy.

But looking at the picture... I swear it looks like a .22 slug! Not .223 slug!

Other AZ members, look in the Arizona Republic, Saturday June 15, 2002, page A18 and tell me if I am right or wrong.

If it is a .22 slug, and the boy claims he was shot by a woman Israeli soldier with an M-16, then I guess that the Israeli's are using .22 conversion kits!

I would really like to see this "slug". Sounds too much like BS to me. Should it not have fragmented and really screwed this kid up?

I think those white things are zip-ties, to be used as handcuffs. Look at the guy in the very back, is that the new "Chef Boyardee" camo headgear, or is he a cook, out getting some "trigger time"?

What about the above slug? .22 or .223?

For sure, that's a .22 rim fire bullet pictured against the measuring tape. After seeing that the IDF uses suppressed 10-22s, he probaby was shot by an Israeli. And most likely, the Palestinian youth that was the recipient of this slug, was NOT an innocent bystander.

It be a 22LR...!

I thought the .22s were only used on dogs and the like by the IDF as they had proven themselves monstrously ineffective vs. humans.

The IDF was, for a while, using a .22 to wound and *discourage* rioters, targeting the apparent leaders.  It's an interesting strategy, to say the least.  A "less lethal" option.

Maybe that's where the round came from, though from the story, it doesn't seem likely.

The .22 sniper rifle:

As to the helmet cover, it's a form of camoflage.  See here for the story:

"While very simple, the Mitz'nefet is actually very effective, especially when the soldier is in the prone position with his head very visible. The Mitz'nefet is also a very effective hat and is often worn right on the head in order to protect from the sun. Combined with the IDF full body camouflage suit the Mitz'nefet is a high quality system adapted to the desert climate in the Middle East, which doesn't allow the usage of more complex system like Ghillie suits."

So what the hell, don't they have bullet removal techniques in any other part of the world?

Anyone care to guess who's footing the bill for this future potential suicide bomber?

What a waste of fucking money to save a future terrorist.  Let the bodies fall where they may and leave them there.
