The price should go down because of the release of the strategic reserve oil.

Hold your breath on that one.

It was $2.589 for the cheap stuff when I bought some on Monday. Today at that same gas station, it was $3.199. I scouted around and found it for $2.999 just a couple minutes ago though. Still, $3 a gallon for the cheap stuff, before the prices hit their biggest hike, I'm glad I bought today.

$2.79 in central PA... as of 5 minutes ago.

Biodiesel and Ethanol are the only viable alternatives!!!!

These are continuously renewable resources that are produced right here in the U.S.

It takes very little modifications for your current vehicle to burn one of these.

Call your Representatives TODAY and DEMAND that these products be given first priorty.

Let's finally be able to tell those pieces of shit in OPEC to go fuck themselves.

Wrong.

We do not have the agricultural capability to run the country on bio-diesel or ethanol.

Obviously you have absolutely no clue how many metric tons of Soybeans we export each year.

If we ceased all exports, we would easily have excess capacity.

ETA: Even if we had enough to only replace a quarter of the petro that we use, would it not be nice to increase our independence?

there was just a fight at a gas station outside campus where a petite girl knocked the sh*t out of a guy who cut in front of her in the line to get gas

wish i had pics

luckily i filled up my truck before the storm

And what is the EROEI?

How much will a "metric ton" of soybeans produce?

And what about the other three/quarters? Dependence is still dependence.

I stand by my statement.

People need to stop buying these damn gas hogs and start buying cars that get 30 miles to the gallon. What is it telling the Arabs that we buy gashogs? it tells them we can raise the price, the US will pay it, lets raise the price.

$2.99 was the cheapest I could find without driving far near Milwaukee, WI. I just bought $78 worth and added another 20gal to the small reserve. I had to wait in line which was a bit discerning.
$3.29 most other places in SE WI. Thats a 0.50 increase in two days.

$2.69 still in the central and northern parts.

It was up to $3.06 here in WNC... before the pumps went dry, that is. Every station I drove by on my way home from work had the pumps roped off.

City & County Leaders Address Gas Concerns
Local leaders in Asheville and Buncombe County are asking people to conserve fuel as the area deals with a temporary shortage of gas.

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina continues to delay the delivery of gas to pumps in Western North Carolina. Leaders are urging people not drive unless they have to until the supply gets back up and running. The city and county is also asking non-essential employees to take sick or comp time over the next few days to cut down on demand. Asheville City and Buncombe County School officials say buses and schools will run as scheduled.

Gas went from $2.69 this morning to $2.99 this evening. There were cars crammed into all the stations around here topping off. My brother-in-law is on duty right North of us in Georgia and he said that there were cars lined up everywhere and alot of stations were already running out. I topped off my Toyota and a 5 gallon can, that will last me over a month since I only drive about 10 miles a day but I hope this doesn't get real ugly. I'm looking for the grocery store prices to take a big jump next
Link Posted: 8/31/2005 5:10:15 PM EDT
At the cheap gas station it went from $2.89 this morning to $3.15 by the time I got off work. This is from 7:30 in the morning when I got there to 5:30 in the afternoon when I filled up with gas, in fear of the next price hike.

The economic impact is HERE -- contrary to the Whitehouse statement that Katrina would have a "modest" economic impact.

$3.19 in Asheville NC. Where you can find it. USTs are empty. They say to come back Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Charlotte. $2.99 but stations are closing early. Reported that it will be two to three days before Colonial Pipeline we be back up due to Katrina. Conserve and drive only when needed we are told.

People, including myself have to drive to work. This is getting bad. I hope it improves soon.
