What exactly is the process by which I can obtain a CMP Garand? Any suggestions/helpful info/ websites would be greatly appreciated

Eh, I'd link you to the CMP website which lists it step by step, but I forget ze link.

Basically, all you have to do is join a CMP authenticated club and prove you can handle the weapon by entering a competition, having C&R/FFL, or being over 60, retired mil, ect.

Very easy to deal with, little hassle from what I hear. I'm going to find you the link.

EDIT:

DAMMIT! BEATEN BY MERE SECONDS!

It is easier to get one now.

It is easier to get the shooting qualificaion. They now accept the following.

C&R license
LTC
Even a letter/card from your local range officer that you shot 50 rounds.

Just fill out the paperwork, include your documents, get it notarized and you are good to go.

A warning though, I got my first in May and now have FIVE!

Get a SA Service Grade for your first rifle. Ships fast and will most likely be in excellent shape. Wood might be dinged up a little, but probably not very bad. Be advised, once you get your Garand, you will most likely be afflicted with an acute case of Garanditis. There is no cure and it is chronic. Just be prepared.
