At this point the show doesn't really have a whole hell of a lot to do with GRRM's vision for who lives, who dies, and how (and hasn't since S4). It all comes down to what Dumb & Dumber want to happen.

Because of this its pretty much guaranteed that the two Daenerys

will have her sitting on the iron throne when it's all said and done regardless of how GRRM plans on ending the books. It's only a question of how she gets there and who, if anyone, will be there with her.

For some reason I'm thinking they had to delay filming because it wasn't winter yet at the filming location, and they need snow. I could be wrong, but I think that's why the long delay.
