I was speaking to an employee of the Bloomington, MN store on Saturday asking him when Galyan's will start selling standard-capacity magazines again.   He told me "never".  Apparently the chain has been bought by another company that no longer wants to be involved with handgun sales.  I informed him that, unfortunately, this ammo purchase was the last one I would make at the store or any Galyan's, EVER.

Does anyone else have info to support this?  Ammo is fairly priced, but I will drive to Gander Mt., Steicher's or order from Ammoman.com from now on.  It sucks because their locations are very convenient.

Thank you, Mike!

That's a good idea.  I'll write them a letter and let them know they've lost my business.  (all of it, not just firearm business).  I encourage all ARFCOMMERS to do the same.

Why not support  the local gun shop with ALL your purchases, so you'll have a place to buy a handgun when you want one.

Sportmart out in Kali stopped selling handguns a few years back and they lost a few good customers.

Agreed.  Sometimes you can find used guns cheap at discount stores, but otherwise just ammo and "hunting accessories"

Galyans had the best selection of Kimber, Sig and HK around in my area and at decent prices. The mom and pop's suck largely (hammer-head employees/owners and no selection). I'd hate to see them stop selling handguns. Nothing cheers me up like going to the mall to buy a new Kimber when I'm having a bad week

Yes,  they need more room for soccer balls.

I just wish my company still owned Galyans...I would have gotten 40% off everything!!!

Dick's isn't all that bad, but I hate to see companies becoming PC.

The only good thing about Dick's is their golf equipment selection and prices.  Everything else sucks ass IMHO.

I stopped going to Galyan's long ago- they wouldn't sell me a Bushmaster....

Cabela's did, though.

Yep and Dick's is a "No CCW" in Indiana. I have shopped at Galyans since they were just a country gun store but I think it is time to call it quits.

A member here in VA works at Galyans and is soon leaving thanks to Dick's buying them.  I for one won't buy/support Galyans after this policy.  I'll stop by the local gunstores and support them.

You talking about Galyan’s Trading Post in Plainfield?

I bought a Mauser Model 93 with a dark bore from them in 1969.

The salesman assured me the bore would clean up with a little Hoppes.

It didn’t!!

Not that I’m one to hold a grudge, of course.

Yup, I heard the same thing from my local Galyans.  I'll still shop from them, however, seeing as how they are one of two gun shops in my area where the employees are helpful and nice.

yeah. dicks buying them out really sucks
although they do have $50 off on handguns right now, so I bought a 92fs

Because apparently they don't have enough REAL balls (to sell handguns)

Last time I bought anything at Galyans was when they were running a good sale on Q3131A.   Haven't seen that in ANY stores in the past year at least.  They don't sell reloading stuff either, so it has been pretty much Gander Mtn. and locally owned shops for me.

Dicks is pretty PC with guns.

Apparently they think nobody hunts with a handgun.

Oh yes Dick's also sells lots of popular handgun calibers: 40, 38, 45, ect.

These are primarily used in handguns.

Sell the ammo, not the guns

Being that I am currently employed by Galyans (now dicks) I will refrain from letting any of my knowledge of the present situation known.  As soon as I am employed elsewhere...well I will let everyone here know the read deal.

(No one here will be shopping at Dicks and longer.)

What is your handgun sale policy?

Yep... Fuck Dick's.  I've been shopping at the original Galyan's since I was a little kid, going in with my grandfather.

The thing that really pisses me off is that Dicks isn't going to carry the good camping/outdoor shit like Galyan's does.  Dicks is a soccer mom store.

It's ashame a company like dicks can come along and ruin a good thing, but i'm not going to worry about it.

We have a BassPro beginning construction here.

I love Galyans and hate Dicks.  Not wild about BassPro either.  I hope they open a Gander Mountain out here.
