Thing looks pretty controllable in auto. Guess all that weight has a upside. Beautiful looking weapon though.

Yep.

It might be a semi converted to full auto. Lots of conversions have a higher rate of fire, due to the fire control geometry being different.

Also the rifle could have a high round count, an enlarged gas port.

It's only my favorite weapon from Counter-Strike!

Israeli shit always intrigues me the way they mess with old designs.

I've wondered for years why the Galil didn't take off in popularity.

That only sounds like 750 RPM, and given the weight of a Galil, doesn't seem all that of a big deal. especially if it's 5.56

They are heavy. The mags aren't too expensive around 20 to 30 each, unless your thinking about the 308 version those are about 100 each.

Plus quality galil clones are expensive. Its either pre-89's or ORF builds.

The other option is CAI. And people that have owned century guns usually say "never again"

I have a imi factory post sample 16 in barrel galil and it does not have that high rate of fire.
Link Posted: 9/8/2013 6:30:59 AM EDT
I built one into a post sample a couple years ago.

Yes. They run FAST.

Link Posted: 9/8/2013 6:34:58 AM EDT
Shot an ARM at Knob Creek. I think about 750 is right. Very controllable. Nice trigger for an AK.
Link Posted: 9/8/2013 6:36:09 AM EDT
Factory spec for rate of fire on an M16 is 700-950 RPM.

Factory spec for rate of fire on a 5.56 Galil  630-750 RPM.

Not particularly fast for a 5.56 auto

I believe it appears faster because your seeing the bolt up handle moving in action - I've seen m4s run between 800-900 rpm

Edit - I wouldn't stand in front of it

If this was around 700 I would own one. For what it is and how it shoots a non clone is just tooo much.

Besides century and "Elite" (I think is the name) has anyone tried making quality galis US at an affordable cost?

I don't know if it's possible, but I'd sure like one.  I realize it won't do anything for you that an AR piston gun in 556 won't likely do better...but fuck it, I'd buy one.

Similar to what Tom Sizemore (Michael Cheritto) carried during the bank heist.

So AK's belong in the garbage can, except when they're too heavy and made by Israelis? Then they're awesome. GD logic strikes again.

They took an AK (Valmet) and made it more accurate with a higher quality receiver, better controls and improved sights and vastly improved the accuracy while maintaining it's reliability.

Plus the .308 version is sweet.

What is there to hate on? Heavy? Lots of guns are heavy.

Buy a torch cut receiver from APEX for all of $15, google TurboThis, send him a kit with the receiver, he will weld up the receiver and assemble the kit and do an awesome job and you will have a factory IMI Galil for under $1000.
