My GSD alerted me last night that we had some intruders inside the perimeter. We've been having a lot of pigs tearing up peoples yards around here. These guys are going to be some good eating.

I live on two acres in a 44 house neighborhood. I'm not very rural. The pigs are coming from a state preserve adjacent to our neighborhood.

4 shots total. After I dropped the larger one, the little ones started running. I hit the two little ones on the run and then had to finish one off.

It looks like you don't have a weapon mounted light.  Was it a full moon?  How did you illuminate the targets?

I ask because piggies are not a problem in my state, except when they (food vendors) run out of eats at the state fair.

How did the pigs get introduced?  Are they considered nuisance critters?  Is there anything being done to control their numbers (aside from property owners such as yourself taking action)?

My neighborhood is surrounded by 7000 acres of state preserve land. They were introduced most likely by farmers letting their hogs escape. They are indeed a nuisance animal in Florida and you can shoot them at will on your own property. As for control, many things are being done. Trapping, hunting, fencing(electric and regular) are done on a regular basis. Nothing will stop these little bastards though. There are just too many of them and they reproduce very quickly. I just shoot them when ever they enter my AO.

Dumb Question...

Is there away that you can tell if they have any diseases? I know they prolly have parasites and such.
I allways wondered about people eating wild game in general. I know cooking kills alot of stuff but what if they have something that doesnt get killed by heat?
No concerns about it at all?
I am just curious.

Either way.. good for you to get rid of those things.. the destruction they do is horrible for farmers

also that is an 1100 correct?

There is no way possible that you dispatched three intruders on your property with a shotgun.  We all know shotguns have too much recoil, low capacity and slow reload rate.  You must have shot them with an AR and put the shotgun in for the pictures.
