Neighbor has a Savana conversion van about 10 years old. Engine will crank but won't start. Is there a standard fix for this problem ?

Fuel pump.

Seriously, if it ran fine b4 you shut if off and just cranks now, 99.9% it'll turn out to be the fuel pump.

Bang on the tank with a rubber mallet while cranking the engine. Drive to mechanic you trust and install a OEM fuel pump or do it yourself, [I know, neighbor]. It probably has 100 to 120 K on it.

that would be my guess as well. check the fuse for the fuel pump and any other fuel related components.
