The 1911 has nothing on a Glock.... I take that back. It takes the following categories
- Limited capacity
- Heavy
- Unreliable
- Complicated

I carry a CW9 with the grip cut down to accept CM mags. It carries like a dream. My Glock 19 is like carrying a brick.

Some people just do better with different platforms than others.

Just because something may be better on paper or in theory does not mean that every person out there will be more effective with it.

I'm pretty happy with my Glock 19

If OP can get a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan for $600, get it.

Yeah, it would make a shitty CCW. But at $600, you can sell it for $900 and get 2 used Glocks.

Why switch weapon types now? If weight is the only issue, why not go with a lightweight Commander?

Honestly... Glock. I've carried quite a range. Full size 1911 to PPS 9mm.
I'm on a glock 19 now and don't see it changing any time soon.

CZ PCR. My favorite I have carried. Aluminum framed compact CZ75 variant with decocker.

Glock 19 = carry gun.

I have temporarily sent my 1911 back to the minors and called up a reliever with a 1300 fps fastball. It wasn’t an easy decision. But when confronted with the facts, I feel more comfortable protecting me and my progeny with the G19. It’s easier to carry, easier to shoot and instills me with confidence no other pistol has (yet) to achieve. Keeping an open mind, I now believe that the Gen4 Glock 19 is the best easily-concealable self-defense handgun money can buy.

Some of that has to do with the Gen4 G19’s beefed-up spring assembly. If you concentrate your mind on felt recoil and felt recoil alone, there’s not much to separate the old Glock from the new gun. But if you compare the overall experience of shooting, including the vastly improved ergonomics, Gen3 and Gen4 are miles apart. The Gen4 pistol feels all of a piece; every aspect of the firearm working in endlessly repeatable harmony to make the gun controllable. Yes, perfectly.

Nice, I want the one with the rail. Ideally, I would want the SDP model, which comes from the factory customed out, but I think it would be more practical for me to get a standard p01 and just send it off for the trigger job.

SDP

There is no G30 in that poll. You need a 45.

Moving away from a 1911 due to weight maybe, but not capacity. Always need a few more rounds with 1911 if that's what you mean.

The HK or a Glock 17 or 19 if you are of a smaller frame. The HK may be my next pistol. Im pissed it's only 15 rounds though. Compared to a G17

ETA G17 is my pistol of choice
