Eloise had eye surgery last week, they did a tarsorrhaphy. This was likely the hardest call we had to make to date. The only thing she can really do is see and hear. We didnt know how much this would close her eyes, but it was the right thing to do. They stitched the outside 5mm of her eyes closed. She can still see, but her peripheral vision is just about gone. She hasn't blinked yet, and may never blink. She even sleeps with here eyes partly opened. She was getting eye drops on the even hours and gel on the odd hours. After the surgery, its just eye drops every 4 hours.

It has been crazy! It feels like its a mad rush to get everything ready for her to be home. The second I think everything is set, well there is something else we need for her, that she needs or that her nurse will need. Her room is very furnished thanks to everyone that has donated. Her nurses are very happy with how we have the room set up, the medical supply company said we are the most prepared people they have seen in a long time.

She comes home on the 28th!!!

Thanks for the update

Her room looks great.  What a blessing you are for her.  Know that and understand that you were born for this.  She was as well.

I know it's frustrating anticipating coming home and there are delays and delays.  It sucks.  No need to rush things though--that is a bit of pride and selfishness creeping in.  She will get home in time.

We all have experienced this, so it's not a knock on you.  It's a "check" and you'll experience and recognize this from here on out.

Bless her and your whole family.  We are all pulling for y'all.

Thanks for the update!  You are doing amazing.  Baby Eloise is in good hands.

Btw I was looking at things to monitor a baby's breathing.  I ended up with a hand me down Owlet which is just a pulse oximeter sock.  I'm not sure what monitoring Eloise will have but if she doesn't need anything you could get an owlet for peace of mind.

They also make cameras that use processing power to figure out if baby is breathing or not.  Might be a good backup to have.

We are home!!!!

Hospital has a new policy that changed right before we left. We had to do a 24hr stay with zero nurse support. We were told at 4pm on the 27th. Less than 19hr before discharge. My wife woke up at 7am on the 27th, didnt get to sleep until 11pm on the 28th. We left the hospital at about 2pm on the 28th after 131 days.

Been home about 4 weeks now i think, its been a blur. Wife came down with covid, had some nurses call out because of that. I am pulling 6am to 6pm shifts as dad/nurse right now. I am fighting a cold too, took 4 covid test and neg on all of them.

We dont have a nurse from 6am on the 24th to 6pm on the 25th. If the wife still has covid, ill be doing a 36hr shift and christmas will be the 26th or 27th.

I was going to say take it one day at a time. But you're measuring in hours. Hang in there and prayers for health and recovery.
