One of my favorite, if not my favorite music group. Wunderbar!  I can't even tell you which album is my favorite. I love Mensch Machine, but then I think Trans Europa Express, and then I think about the charm and pop of Computer World. Decisions, decisions...

I always end up singing that song when I am driving on an Autobahn.

Saw them in concert after Autobahn hit the charts.  Most boring concert I ever saw.  The arena was full of roper dopers, they were all like, WTF?    It was like going to the dentist without painkillers.

Yep. It is so interesting how four techno dorks from Germany ended up influencing the rap development and industry in inner city USA.

Eh, I think most of their stuff is rather unremarkable, though some of it is pretty good.

They have a habit of lending support to anti-nuclear organizations, thus helping to keep the civilized world depended on oil imports from the terrorists, that I don't really care for though.

I remember hearing this song for the first time in 1971/72 on KWFM

I know that but if you watch the video, that's the caption "they" use.

Oh...BTW, that was to be quoted to alphatea [above] and this:

Here is Balanescu quartet covering "The Model" along with David Byrne.  The album version of this cover does not have vocals in it, but it was some David Byrne performance special on A&E, and I guess he wanted to sing the words.  I love their album of Kraftwerk covers (and about 2 covers of David Byrne songs).  Balanescu has been everywhere, but only a Kraftwerk person would be able to pick up on what they were playing right away.

Wasn't that a 'feature' in the "Fantastic Animation Festival" move back in the mid/late 70s?

Of course I may have been drunk at the time.

That was released in 1979 (I think) and made in '74.

The other half of GD, from that era, probably still has "Pieces of April" stuck in their head, and/or in the woodchipper.

Great times, great music......
