We're in a very stout concrete condo and came out fine - not a scratch.  Many others are not so lucky - too many to mention.  For instance, a few blocks South of us....

That old condo was wooden and Cocoa Beach Pier is too but it did fine.

However, the Cocoa Beach First Baptist Church didn't....

nor the Diplomat Condominium (about 3 blocks North of us)....

and virtually all of the beach-front hotels took a hit (Hilton, Doubletree, with Holiday Inn hit hard and Howard Johnson's destroyed).

Our Huey at Veterans Memorial Park over on Merritt Island didn't make it....

and the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at Kennedy Space Center is missing 820 of the 16-by-4 foot panels sheeting the shuttle "hanger".  Consider the panels are 16X4 and envision how large the VAB is.

Folks worked together though....

so we're doing great now....

and our thanks go to Florida National Guard’s 2nd Battalion of the 124th Infantry

and to our neighbors.

<Thanks DzlBenz - that was it>

I think you need to change ".htm" in all of your image posts to ".jpg".

One of my aunts hotels on Merritt Island had the roof blown off of it. Her condo on Cocoa Beach was OK.

Thanks for the post, 4get_No1. Lots of devastation and upset lives, but the perseverence of the American spirit will always prevail.

My mother-in-law still has no power (in Melbourne) as has been told it'll probably still be a week before she gets power back.  Apparently it's real hot and she's losing her mind

The roof was blown off her office building, but her house (concrete block) was undamaged.  She didn't even put up plywood or anything!
