road chase, apparently ends with suspect sideways in road, firing from driver's seat out open driver's door directly at the cruiser (and it's mounted camera). Cruiser T-bones car / suspect. Looks awesome.
Will try to capture it.

Sweet.

Why would we care to see footage of THE MAN keeping a citizen down?

Link Posted: 10/1/2004 2:23:52 PM EST
See it? Live it! We are always recruiting!

Just saw it.
Good job.

just shown. It was in Montana in mid-june. Being chased for shooting someone else, fired on the officers from behind his stopped vehicle, piercing a cruiser's radiator. in the steam cloud the guy flees again. Further down the highway, spike strip causes his halt / spinout. Then from open door he is firing on approachin police cr - THEN he was rammed full-on. He survived.

Stills in a bit.

I just saw it. Pretty Cool!

I gotta see this.

ready to receive stream and pics
Link Posted: 10/1/2004 2:45:59 PM EST
The cop that crashed into the car had balls of steel.
Link Posted: 10/1/2004 2:54:09 PM EST
Yeah, they said he had shot 7 people in a bar prior to the chase/fight with cops! This guy is serving 10 life sentences according to Jane Skinner. This guy is a real good reason for CCW! We have to protect ourselves from wierdos like this

here's some stills - I can't support the bandwidth ya greedy bastids would suck with video.

Look to the far left / the rear bumper, that's him kneeling and firing from behind the vehicle. Pic after that is the cruiser's radiator punctured, and an inset of the dash-cam seeing nuttin.

This set is after the spike strip, he's spun out and come to rest, opens door and is firing right at the camera as the cruiser closes at what I'd estimate to by 60+mph

And lastly they showed a slo-mo - I thought it was the suspect car's rearview mirror flying through the air, then I thought it was the sideview mirror.

Looks like a Sig to me.

Anybody got the video for download?
Link Posted: 10/2/2004 9:48:50 AM EST
Damn...saw the footage this morning. They rammed the hell out of that car.

+1 for the Troopers!

Does a Crown Victoria doing 60 mph qualify for IPSC major power factor?

Ya know, in this case, I think that ramming a stopped car was an appropriate response.

Real good call on the troopers part. Much more effective than a 9mm, and put this guy down for the count. He had to have large ones to aim that car directly into oncoming fire.

God I hate Real Player... I hope someone gets out a nice big mpeg of this.

Hey, if the County is too cheap to buy new cars, this oughtat at least get one of the old ones off the inventory. (I hope, winter's coming and the heater prbbably doesn't work too well anymore.)

I can host a video. at least until too much bandwidth gets eaten.

I found an excellent video of the shootout here:
www.ktvq.com/Global/story.asp?S=2372372
you will have to click on the link to the left of the story "Startling video of high speed chase and shootout released by prosecutors"

Capro,

Thanks for the excellent link. Good job by the MSP.

Move over John and let ME ram him...I'm drivin' a POOL car!
Link Posted: 10/4/2004 3:33:42 AM EST
Hmm. Capro's video link doesn't work for me. I get to their newspage and click the video link, and it brinks up the player in the browser, says "Loading...", then it says stopped. It won't play. What format is the video?
Link Posted: 10/4/2004 3:58:57 AM EST
I normally frown upon a lot of Police responses these days, but I think this one was totally justified and would give this one a bonus.

I love how you see the gun go flying up in the air in the last crash video.

You need the latest version of Windows Media Player I believe.

Agreed. Real Player sucks ass. It's not a computer standard. It's a for profit standard. the client software is loaded with spyware/adware.

And a note on the vid. With that high speed ramming the family surely already has a slip and fall attorney working on the lawsuit...
Link Posted: 10/4/2004 7:05:11 AM EST
Good job and glad the officers came home alive. Too bad the dirtball still had both his legs.

You can see the guy opening his door and shooting multiple rounds at the officer. The officer was definately acting in self defense.

And the guy survived, so the "Family" can't do shit.... but knowing the legal system, this guy will sue for being traumatized by the cops, after he gets a legal degree paid for by the taxpayers during his 11 consecutive life sentences

very nice vid

I simply can't believe that the guy was able to survive after being hit by a cruiser going 60 MPH !!!

That's because you only the ones on the news which encompass about .00000000001 percent, and then you are not always getting the whole story....just the snippets that make it appear the way they want it.

Listen, of course there are bad cops, but I'm willing to bet it's the same ratio as bad doctors, salesman, lawyers (well, actually I'm sure the bad lawyer ratio is much higher!)
