I found a ipad and called the name and number on the back. No response. It is locks so I cant get into it or factory reset it. I will give this woman another few days and then I am going to chuck it. People nowadays If I lost it and the person that found it called saying they found it I would be grateful.

Found an iPhone in a buggy in the parking lot at WalMart. Walked back into the store to drop it off at Customer Service, thinking the owner might realize where they lost it and return asking. The way the young CS girl's eyes lit up when she saw the phone, I doubt it made it back to the rightful owner.

Hold onto it for a few weeks. It's not like it's taking up space. I'm sure one of the iWizards here knows how to get into it. Maybe another way to find the owner inside, like email or Facebook.

If it's locked with their iCloud account then there is no way you can wipe it, even if you did get past the lock screen.

It's a holiday weekend and many people are gone visiting family. Don't be surprised you didn't get a call back yet. Give it until Monday or Tuesday before you do anything.

Give to the PoPo. That's what I would do if I couldn't contact the owner.

Then there's the iCloud log in which is their Apple ID and password. If you do multiple wrong PINs it can wipe the device (if they have that option enabled). Even if you get past the PIN lock, you can't restore to factory settings without disabling the iCloud lock. Putting it into recovery accomplishes nothing because it still needs the iCloud password to allow it to be wiped or restored, that requires talking to the Apple servers. |

I found a smart phone in the middle of a cross walk one night. The person's husband called it the next day, and explained his wife was on a business trip and was no longer in town. I mailed it back to them the next day.
Just turn it in to the Apple store. I'm sure they would like to have it back. |

You have their phone number? It's Thanksgiving weekend. Give them a chance to get back home. I know if I lost my Ipad, I would be really upset! You have a chance to really make somebody's day, even if you can't do it today. Seriously, you are going to blow them out of the water by returning it to them!

I've seen plenty of people claim they can, they've all turned out to be scams of one flavor or another. Apple knows iPad (X) is associated with Apple ID (Y), as soon as iPad (X) tries to phone home it will be locked again, even if you managed to get into it. The only fix would be to make Apple think iPad (X) isn't iPad (X). If you could disassociate the iPad from the Apple ID that would work as well, but that requires the Apple ID PW, if you can obtain that then yeah you can wipe it. |
