Tim was part of Virginia Tech's ROTC program, similar to the program that Texas A&M has. I was not in the ROTC, but Tim was a forestry major, same as me. He was one of the toughest guys I have ever met. We had one lab together were we learned how to take timber cruise samples. One day it was raining and about 38 degrees and he didn't complain a bit. It seemed like he enjoyed it. I haven't spoke with him since '99 when I graduated.
