Thinking of trading up from a 2007 Nissan Quest to a Ford Edge. I had a negative experience with a brand new 2004 F150 xlt years ago that I chalk up to a crappy dealership and first year run. The 5.4 engine was sluggish, got 13mpg new, ticked loudly in the top end when brand new, and the truck had lots of warranty repairs that took entirely too long to accomplish.
This Quest (wasn't my choice, piece of junk) has had major problems with brakes, front end suspension such as ball joints, and quirky door operations.

Will most likely buy new, as the used prices are HIGH. I'd appreciate any experience and info- do you like yours? Any problems other than normal oil changes? Is there a better family sized crossover or SUV that you'd recommend at less than $30,000?

I'm in no hurry, just relying on info and experiences before I go shopping.

Wife drives a 2011. It's pearl white premium or loaded edition, whatever they're called. Just crossed over 100k and it's been an awesome car.

My mother has an Edge and she's very happy with it and hasn't had any issues with it.  Think it's a 2011 or 12.

We've had the same experience with the wife's 2011 as well.

We had one as a rental and it was pretty nice, considering.

Have you considered the Toyota Venza (very very similar)?

Mom drives a 2010 3.5L FWD, zero issues.
I'm actually friends with one of development test drivers for the Edge/MKX, he works jointly with Michelin and Ford.
He showed us bruises from all his attempts to flip one, see-saws, reverse J turns etc.

Just bought a Edge Sport. I love the ecotech in this car. It's quick!  Love it.

Wife is on her second Edge.

Nice Car.  Good weight / power ratio, this one's going on 200K, no problems, still drives like new.

I have a '12 limited. I really like it. It rides comfortably, gets decent milage (20 or so), and looks pretty good as well. It pulls my little 5x8 trailer loaded up very well.

That being said, we are probably looking to get rid of it for a 4runner, because we want a little bit more room in the back when we drive with all the dogs and kids.

Daughter has one it's one she bought used, it's gotten a coil, front wheel bearing, has well over 100 thousand. Go to Jerry Reynolds site, www.carprousa.com, and read his review on the new Edge. He can't say enough good things about it !

My parents have had a couple. 2011 and 2014 currently. No issues with them, but neither had more than 25k on it. Drives nice and rides comfortably.  They are roomier to sit in than you would expect.  I would consider one if I ever find myself in the market for something like that.

My BIL has one he bought for my SIL and he doesn't like it, primarily due to wind noise.

My brother and sister in law just spent over $40k for one, FUCK THAT NOISE. I know cvt is not loved but have you considered looking at a Nissan Murano? I'm fairly certain you could get into one for low $30s

I drive a 2010 3.5 FWD.
Overall I like it.  Lots of power and torque.  Torque will overpower the traction control.
Comfortable.  Nice stereo.  Mileage isn't great unless you keep your foot out of it.
Corners like the Forrestal.

No major issues.

Bought my wife a '14 Edge at the first of the year and it's been great. Rides very nice and has good power with the 3.5 V6. Mileage is decent at 22-23 (considering my wife's lead foot). Haven't had a single issue with it

Oh, I know... I own a 2 week old Fusion with an Ecoboost 2.0. It is a rocket compared to my 2013 Altima but in terms of crossovers the styling of Murano is leaps and bounds ahead of Edge.

I like they way mine looks. But I get your point. AWD with ecoboost is so fun.

Your brother got one loaded with options. Base msrp for an edge is about $31k.  The murano is basically priced the same$30-40k depending on options.

Arfcom delivers!

Thanks y'all, we'll go drive one or two this weekend. Talking to some friends, I have the hookup on a good dealership within 30 miles. Appreciate all the good and bad reviews, and I will be listening for that wind noise.

Thanks!!!

Almost bought one when we bought our Fusion.

Only thing I didn't like about it was the size of the blind spot, but I'm sure you would get used to it.
