Kicking around the idea of getting a plate carrier setup while we have a friendly administration in place. What color did you guys choose and why? Any hard learned lessons you want to pass down?

Pink...helps with the insanity plea, along with the plastic He-man sword.
Bright red so a red dot wont contrast on me.
I should probably paint vertical and horizontal black lines on it to mess up Iron sights or a scopes crosshairs. |
Banshee FDE/coyote/tan
Except the five or six days a year when everything around my house is snow covered it will blend in. On those days I just won't go outside, they can come in if they want to mess me up. |
Black. Goes with everything. Would be nice if they made them Blaze Orange for deer season.
FWIW all of the SWAT/SRT guys I've been around have theirs in ranger green or some variation thereof. I've seen multicam and black too, but those are a distant second.
Black, because it's my favorite, and also it's a personal/HD/vehicle one, so I don't need to disappear with it on.
Multicam everything. I figure if I'm rocking a plate carrier I'm not exactly low profile anyways with a rifle and all. Might as well be able to camouflage. I doubt this would be lower profile in black on top of my civi clothes with a rattle canned rifle.

two identical setups; one for the truck, one for the home.
Olive Drap and FDE |

Ranger green. I live in the midwest where shit is green. I wanted something other than black and I hate multicam. My battle belt is multicam because it was on sale from Crye but would have gone with green in hindsight. I haven't donned either one since early last summer.

Black. I have the ultra low profile PC from Kley Zion. You can wear it under or over your shirt depending on your needs. Its slick, no MOLLE webbing or pouches making it concealable. For CONUS SHTF I think that is important.
Whatever color LBT was calling "brown" at the time they made my 6094. Why? The price was right, and I needed a plate carrier for a training class that ended up not happening.
Old school pinky tan on a MBSS rig, I'm hard as a diamond in an ice storm just talking about it OP.
Black because I got in on a really good deal on contract overrun carriers posted here.
Black. Because it was a contract over-run, high quality, stupid cheap.
Not to mention goes with simply everything, is minimizing and never goes out of style. |
I bought a multicam. I considered getting a grey plate carrier.
I went with Coyote Brown. It works well with a lot of different camouflage patterns and colors.
Mine is ACU because it fell off my clothing record some how.
Multicam, cause that's what color it was when I found it in Pawn shop.
a-tacs au camo
got a smokin deal on it i need to make time to finish setting it up |

Purchasing body armor makes much more sense than your 5th AR15, or your 3rd carry gun for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the protection it offers - both during training and real world situations. The average person would be better served by a low pro police style soft armor vest, rather than a fully jocked up direct action rig with plates. There are a variety of armor carriers which are scalable in nature, allowing one to go from a relatively concealable set of soft armor, to adding plates, and integrating chest rigs if necessary.
Ranger green because the chest rig I modded to snap on using swift clips insread of molle pouches was ranger green and I thought it should match.
The chest rig is ranger green because I live on FL. It is green here. My take away from the whole thing is that going the attachable chest rig route is cheaper than buying a bunch of quality pouches and if you do it right you can take the chest rig off and have just that when it is hot or you get lazy. |
Multicam, Marine Coyote Brown, ACU, Coyote Tan, Ranger Green, OD Green, and Black because I want to be fashionable and bullet proof for whatever occasion comes my way and...........because America
Multicam. It was on sale when I got it. It should be easier to sell if my finances fall apart. Plus I think multicam is a great pattern if you hunt in diverse climates (not applicable to plate carriers).
Multicam, because I like it. My set up is very minimalist. It has 3 mags and camelback.
Black cause it's more tactical and was the only color available on sale!!!!
Black was way too formal for everyday wear, so I went with a lovely postman blue. Really sets off my boots.
This spring I'm thinking seersucker. |

FDM Soon.... |

Multicam, cause I iz tactikilt.
Well in my youth, it was the same price as the Coyote and Green so I went with a non solid color. |
