A Poll Number To Haunt Obama?

Given that a political convention often gives a candidate a "bounce" from which they may, or may not fall - I decided to compare post Dem convention polls from 2004 and 2008.

2008:

Prior to now, no more than 49% of registered voters supported Obama for president in Gallup Poll Daily tracking. Still, Obama's eight percentage point lead over McCain in the new poll falls one point shy of the lead he attained in late July after returning from a well-publicized trip to Europe and parts of the Middle East. At that time, Obama led by nine points, 49% to 40%.

2004:

The poll showed Kerry with the support of 50 percent of all registered voters, compared with 44 percent for Bush, with independent Ralph Nader at 2 percent. On the eve of the convention, Bush led Kerry 48 percent to 46 percent.

If I didn't know better, I'd think we had been here before.
