Sure, I appreciate the grid iron action - but personally, nothing beats a good game of hockey.

Are there any folks here that can back me up on this?

You get fast action, physically exerting game play - with more blood spilled than any other sport.

It takes a lot of talent and endurance to be a good hockey player and the excitement keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I'm a Red Wings fan.  I have been since I was a kid and I always will be.  I like the old films of Gordie Howe and the Assembly Line and I miss the Russian 5.

The Red Wings were one of the original 6 teams of the NHL and they have a rich history of being the team-to-beat.

So, let's hear it.  Any fans out there?  What's your fav. team?  Why or why don't you like hockey?

Obviously you've never played hockey. I've played hockey since I was about 7 (31 now) and played football for two years in high school. Football is the real pussy sport. I had MUCH bigger "puffed up" pads in football. Hockey pads are usually some matted down cotten and plastic that are so sweat soaked that they hinder more than they help. Oh and how about that smell from your shinguards and gloves. You gotta go MOPP 5 to take your stuff off.

Hockey is a way tougher sport. Go Bruins!!!!

I don't like any sport I can only afford to watch on tv as far as spectator sports go.

I love hockey though...can always scrape together enough cash to go see IHL teams

Hockey is a religion here in Minnesota. I first started skating when I was four and never stopped. I'm a big fan of the NHL, but college hockey is my favorite. Oh, did I mention the Minnesota Gophers are the reigning National Champions? Sorry, Maine. [:D]

Hockey fan here!  Been a fan for about four years.  Always a wings fan, but never been to Detroit.  For some reason I've always liked Shanahan.

Play in a local house league, scorekeep, just started officiating, and have actually driven a Zamboni resurfacer once.  I can't get enough hockey!

Go Wings!

Avs fans:  Do all Swedes whine as much as Forsberg?  [:D]

I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out.[BD]

Born and raised in Michigan, I yam.  Was stationed at KI Sawyer for a while and played hockey at NMU and Lakeside Arena.  Even played for the Marquette Fire Dept for a season.  Haven't played since leaving the States in '90 though.  Rumor here is Freeman Arena is going to open up next year for a hockey league.  WooHoo!!  At a Red Wings game, probably in the early 70's I saw Gordie Howe, from the blue line, take 10 pregame exhibition shots and hit the crossbar 10 straight times.

So, did I answer correctly?  Can I get my reward in new hockey equipment?

ICE HOCKEY is the ONLY sport.
Ive played ice hockey for years (yes,...even in Florida) although the closest ice rink to me recently closed down [:(]

YOU, sir...have absolutely no idea of what you speak  [whacko]

I can remember sitting there with steam rising off of me, just as soaked (with sweat) as if I had jumped in a pool and swam around awhile, with my lungs burning from sucking wind so hard, and my heart pounding out of my chest...thinking to myself "ALL RIGHT!...only two more minutes till I get to go back out on the ice" (shift change)

I was born near Pittsburgh,...Always have been, and always will be a die hard Penguins fan
Mario Lemieux is the reason I started playing ice hockey.

ASSEMBLY LINE????????!!!!!!!My friend, you mean the PRODUCTION LINE!!!!!!!!Been a wings fan since I went to my first hockey camp in 1969. Alex Delvecchio, Floyd Smith, Lefty Wilson (The trainer), and a newbie American from Cleveland Heights named Doug Volmar ran the school that summer. Doug had just returned from the 68 Olympics. Met Gordie on several occasions, he signed a brick I swiped from the Olympia when they were tearing it down. He laughed when he signed the brick stating that he had been promised the penalty clock but never got it. Gordie was (and is) the best to ever play. Could shoot, skate, stickhandle, pass, and yes fight when neccesary. I also met Mark and Marty in the locker room when the three played for Houston. GO WINGS!!!!!!!

Florida seems to be a good hockey area, oddly enough.  Not sure how the Panthers stand in attendance vs. the rest of the NHL, but I do know that the Everblades of the ECHL draw quite a crowd.

I'm a Roanoke Express fan from my college days.  Ahhh, the Express.  Always looking for a piece of Brophy and his goons.  Come to think of it, Brophy was permanently banned from the Roanoke arena for...spitting on fans, yelling at children, something like that.  Too bad they moved up.

82nd:

Gordie Howe has a place in town near here and he's there most nights.

Red Wings have training camp here every September and I'm hoping to be a chauffeur for them next year.

We went to the local bush league game last night. Guy caught a high stick to the eye. Major Drama or Trama depending on your point of view. Our seats are just behind the boards and adjcent to the team bench. Fight broke out at the face off point?? More Drama.

A good time was had by all.

We will be headed to Dallas in January for an NHL game.
