A few moments ago, hostile Israeli forces attacked the Freedom
Flotilla humanitarian aid convoy headed towards the Gaza Strip. The
convoy was, however, still in international waters.

Live ammunition from Israeli helicopters was fired at the six boats
comprising the Flotilla. In the surprise attack, five of six ships were
boarded by Israeli naval units. Unconfirmed reports state that three
have been killed and at least thirty injured.

Reporter stationed on a Flotilla boat requests order: “We don’t want
any more injuries. Take your seats.”

Live video stream shows activists chanting “We are civilians!” Other
activists are currently calling for immediate attention. An unconfirmed
number of activists have been critically injured.

Activists aboard ships are attempting to contact Israeli Navy,
requesting that they provide aid for the injured.

In both English and Hebrew, activists are pleading for the safety of
the entire unarmed fleet of humanitarian aid boats. Qur’an is being
played loudly in the background. Foreign correspondents aboard boats are
waiting for external communication. It is hard to broadcast from a
group of unarmed boats under attack in the middle of the sea.

Unconfirmed report: Other humanitarian organizations are making their
way to the site of the attack.

Al Jazeera English has reportedly lost all contact with their foreign
correspondent aboard the Flotilla.

Phonecast from Flotilla to Gaza TV reports the deaths of two
individuals, not three. Thirty injured at least.

Live video stream shows that medics aboard the humanitarian aid
convoy are currently trying to treat injured activists.

Gaza Freedom March reports that the Flotilla is 90 miles away from
the coast of Gaza. This is still considered international waters.

Live video stream releases footage through Turkish media channel:

I wonder if it really was a humanitarian flotilla.

Flotilla Using Children as Human Shields

Reported: 01:27 AM - May/31/10

               Follow Israel news briefs on

               and

Organizers of the flotilla intended to break Israel's
naval blockade of Gaza are using children as human shields to keep
Israel from attacking the boats. Chairman Bulent Yildirim of the Turkish
group IHH said so during an interview on the group's website, in which
he was seen holding a baby that was on board the boat Mavi Marmara.

Organizers
have expressed a wish that any confrontation between the boats and the
Israeli navy take place during the day, for better media coverage. They
expected the confrontation to take place during daylight hours Monday
morning, but the Israeli navy intercepted the lead ship late Sunday
night

Was only a matter of time - and not much of it - before things started heating up. Wonder is even Israel would take out vessels with children and cameras around.

Using children as a human shield is a nice touch and is on par for the Palestinians and their supporters.

Seems some folks  / idiots need to learn what a naval blockade is.

If you the humanitarian are willing to put woman and children in harms way to better a terrorist orginazations cause then you become the aggresor. Whether it be through force or passivness.

Seems some folks dont get common sense these days.

I figured as soon as I originally read about this flotilla that something like this would happen. They'd shoot at the Israelis or something to provoke them, and use the footage to ignite some conflict.

Actually, this event could be the proverbial trigger for what Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria - and ultimately Iran - wants to happen.  Too bad the magic hawaiian-kenyan isn't up to the task, so instead, Israel will stand alone.

More from the.....people with hurt feelings.

Israeli troops attacked international aid ships in a bloody operation
although they are in international waters.

Israel has opened fire at a Turkish aid ship sailing for the Gaza Strip,
Turkish TVs reported early Monday.

Two aid activists have been killed, at least 30 people have been
wounded, Turkish television NTV said.

Israeli soldiers used live bullets at the aid activists, the report
said.

Reports have not said which nationalities the dead have. There are no
reports about the other aid ships.

Live video footage from one of the boats showed activists wearing life
vests.

Turkish media also said, Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned Israeli
envoy to condemn the bloody action.

Turkey had urged Israel to allow it safe passage and says the 10,000
tonnes of aid the convoy is carrying is humanitarian.

There are not any official statement about the casualties yet.

The Ministry has set up a crisis desk as well, the report said.

The reports said, there are protests in front of the Israel embassies in
Istanbul and Ankara.

Israel has been imposing a siege on the Gaza Strip since 2007 and killed
up to 1500 Palestinians in an offensive, with a third of them women and
children.

Granted I'm making a SWAG here, but I think the time is near - or at least starting - that Israel is gonna say, "enough is enough."

And of course everyone will chastise them.

In Syria, eight Damascus-based Palestinian
groups urged Arab and Muslim states to work to support the flotilla and
warned Israel against committing any "foolishness to impede the vessels"

"This could create more tension and trigger
unpredictable reactions," said the groups, which included Hamas and the
militant Islamic Jihad.

Israel:  the only country in the world that apparantly can do no wrong and that you can't criticize for any reason lest you be called an anti-Semite.

Sadly, we live in a day and age where there is no such thing as a "human shield." They are victims of their capturers and they will die not at the hand of the man who pulls the trigger, but at the excrement who puts them in that position.

Terrible as any of these situations can be imagined, I know that if I am going to die by the hands of an enemy, I'd much rather kick it to a .50 bmg round popping my head off and taking out the POS behind me, fired by my own people,  than to kneel down and be beheaded or to be shot execution style.

Gaza flotilla: 2 dead, dozens injured in navy boarding.

Passengers tried to grab weapons away from soldiers boarding the Gaza
protest flotilla, starting the violence, Army Radio reported Tuesday
morning, responding to accusations that Israeli commandos assaulted the
ships guns blazing.

Activists aboard the ships repeatedly said they would not respond with
violence to the navy's interception of their flotilla.

At least two dead and dozens wounded in clashes as hundreds Israelis
commandos boarded the ships, firing guns and employing gas, Turkish
media and Al-Jazeera reported earlier Tuesday morning.

Al-Jazeera reported Turkish leaders calling an emergency meeting to
discuss responses to the attack at sea. The Israeli ambassador in Turkey
was called in to offer explanations
, according to a report.

When you use ambulances to carry combat troops, ambulances get blown up.

When you use churches to shoot from, churches get blown up.

When you smuggle munitions in "aid flotillas," that shit gets sunk...

Are you seeing how that works yet?

If not, I suggest that you're blind.

Reports: Israeli navy attacks
Pro-Palestinian aid flotilla heading for Gaza, 2 killed

Israeli warships attacked at least one of the six ships carrying
pro-Palestinian activists and aid for blockaded Gaza, killing at least
two and wounding an unknown number of people on board, an Arabic
satellite service and a Turkish TV network reported early Monday.

The Israeli military refused to comment on the report.

The al-Jazeera satellite channel reported by telephone from the Turkish
ship leading the flotilla that Israeli navy forces fired at the ship and
boarded it, wounding the captain. The Turkish NTV network also reported
an Israeli takeover with gunfire, and at least two people were killed.

The al-Jazeera broadcast ended with a voice shouting in Hebrew,
"Everybody shut up!"

The reports came just after daybreak, with the flotilla still well away
from the Gaza shore. Israel had declared it would not allow the ships to
reach Gaza.

The head of the Gaza Hamas government, Ismail Haniyeh, condemned the
"brutal" Israeli attack.

"We call on the Secretary-General of the U.N., Ban Ki-moon, to shoulder
his responsibilities to protect the safety of the solidarity groups who
were on board these ships and to secure their way to Gaza," Haniyeh
told The Associated Press.

On Sunday, Huwaida Arraf, one of the organizers, said the six-ship
flotilla began the journey from international waters off the coast of
Cyprus on Sunday afternoon after two days of delays. She said they
expected to reach Gaza, about 250 miles (400 kilometers) away, on Monday
afternoon, and that two more ships would follow in "a second wave."

The flotilla was "fully prepared for the different scenarios" that might
arise, and organizers were hopeful that Israeli authorities would "do
what's right" and not stop the convoy, she said.

"We fully intend to go to Gaza regardless of any intimidation or threats
of violence against us," she said. "They are going to have to
forcefully stop us."

After nightfall Sunday, three Israeli navy missile boats left their base
in Haifa, steaming out to sea to confront the activists' ships.
