"My first offense, and they gave me all this time," said Davis, a pudgy African American with dreadlocks . . . [who] was convicted of participating in a string of armed robberies in the Miami area in 2010 . . . Now 20 years old, he was sentenced to 1,941 months - almost 162 years - in prison without the possibility of parole.
On February 9 of this year he was convicted of committing seven armed robberies at fast-food restaurants, a Walgreens pharmacy and other commercial establishments in the Miami area from August to October of 2010. . . . Davis was convicted of seven counts of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence . . . [and] received seven years for the first of the firearm counts against him and 25 years apiece for each of the six subsequent counts. The law, as written by Congress, requires the sentences to be served consecutively. In prison slang, such sentences are sometimes referred to as "life on the installment plan" or "running wild." It's a real shame he didn't try robbing a tax payer in CCW mode. |
|
Good he would have ended up killing some poor bastard soon enough.

This. More and more it should happen. Someone's been breaking into homes that were evacuated for the massive fires, as well as breaking into FFers and victims cars. -SleeperShooter |
|
With the exception of his mother who will say, "My baby did nuthin wrong" does he really think anyone else will give a shit?
ETA; He is just stupid... thats all. "I ain't going to never accept what happened," he added. "They know what they did isn't right." LOL |
|
A string of armed robberies isn't a "first offense"; maybe a first conviction but he's been doing crimes.
I suppose he was entitled to continue his criminal career til he kills some people and then gets the heavy time. |
|
He should be glad he got Life instead of Death courtesy of some CCW holder. |
|
As far as I'm concerned, if the sentence is to the death, due to length of sentence, it would be much easier and cheaper on the taxpayers to just take him out back
and shoot him in the head and bury him without fanfare. To keep this fucker alive for the rest of his natural life, at considerable expense, when he'll die in jail ANYWAY makes absolutely no sense. It's not like there's any doubt as to his guilt. CJ |

This is exactly what you should expect when you name your son "Quartavius". The kid was doomed from the start. I doubt he fought his situation really hard though.

Excuse me while I wide open my throttle down teh river of tears.
|
|
Can someone explain to me why we keep prisoners serving life sentences alive?
After all the appeals and legal mumbo jumbo has been exhausted why not just get rid of them? |

According to expert testimony at his trial, Davis suffers from a learning disability and bipolar disorder.
At the time of his arrest, he told Reuters, he was living on $674 a month in Social Security disability payments and hoping to get back into school to learn a trade. Wow And it sounds like he was just getting his life together. |

The bleeding heart who wrote the article calls him "pudgy" to garner sympathy but the fact is, that criminal scumbag is built like a damn tank. I'd hate to face him hand to hand..........oh wait. |

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not a liberal softy, but that's too much time. I would not be upset if some CCW holder had shot him. That would have been self defence and I would be fine with that. Anyway a sentence of 15 to 20 years would have been good. He is a young man and with time, perhaps he would smarten up. But on the other hand, maybe not. It's sad seeing a young man waste his life with such stupidity. It's also sad to think of innocent people being terrorized by him. |

Have you seen the price of college tuition? Forget it. Even trade schools are ridiculous. What choice did he have? |

|
With good behavior he only has to serve 85% of his sentence. see it's not so bad - only about 138 years.

F him and the horse that he rode in on.
Classic example of play silly games, win silly prizes |

The guy was a career criminal. If I had my way I'd just shoot him in the head.
|
|
Let him it at 87 years old...
Then he can work at McDonalds for the remaining 5 years of his life.. |
|
Every cell should be equipped with a 1000lb eyelet in the ceiling and a length of rope for those prisoners who want to end their imprisonment before their court-ordered release date.
