Yeah, well.... I'm not too keen on leaving Dad alone for this.

I may find myself racing north ahead of the storm (as opposed to racing north BEHIND the storm, as I found myself with Chareley.

North Palm Beach County here.

Works been canceled for tomorrow, people are boarding up, getting out of dodge. I'll be riding it out with my girl, her yellow lab, my rottie & cat, and a friend who's stuck in Tampa, her german shepard will be coming to my place for the storm.

I'll keep a camera charged and post shots of anything worth posting.

Tampa area here...I'm not sweating this one like I did with Charley, but keeping a sharp eye on the bitch...our house is built to the latest codes, so I'm not worried about this one...it'll be a Cat 1 or 2 at most by the time it gets all the way across Florida...

North of Tampa here. Right now the storm is forecast to pass right over. Forecast still says 115 mph winds when it gets here.

Z-Hills here. Thats northeast of Tampa.
Not sure what I'm doing yet. I'm gonna watch it for today and finish up the house prep. I have bug out plans AB and C ready.
Looks we're in for it.
I figure my fifth wheel is pretty strong and its tied down well. I may do the 'Slim Pickens' Yeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

ETA: I just watched channel 8 weather and they have this computer modeling program called VIPER that was the only one dead nuts on for Charlie. It shows a more northward track than all the others. Good news for me.

Tampa Bay area here and a L.E.O..

I live in an older house built in the early 50's.  Mrs. Colt_SBR is scared to death about these hurricanes.

I was suppose to leave on vacation tomorrow for Chicago.  Now I'm on Non-paid standby for this hurricane.  Law Enforcement sucks alot.  Can't wait till I retire.  Soon I hope.

Plus I was injured in a fight the other day during an arrest.  On workman's comp, light duty.  That's a joke.  Light duty working the street during a hurricane.

Oh well.  I hope this hurricane takes hard right turn and dies in the ocean.

Port Saint Lucie here.  Sent the wife and kids away yesterday.  Finishing up the boarding when I get home from work.

That's all for now.  I won't be on here for a few days I'm guessing.  Good luck to the rest of my fellow Floridians and any others of you that may be affected.

[Drill Sergeant]"Lighten up, Frances."[/Drill Sergeant]

See you on the other side of this.

Check. My house is about 15 miles from the beach and about 200' from the river, but it's been here since 1909 so I'm not terribly worried. A friend asked if I had stocked up on bottled water. I told him "I have 1000 rounds of .223. I can get all the bottled water I want."

North Miami beach checking in.  Finished boarding up last night.  We learned our lesson from Hurricane Andrew in '92!  Bought plenty of food, water, batteries, ammo.

Stay safe, everyone!

You guys in the peninsula do your best to keep it from coming into the gulf so it can whack the rest of us in the NW Panhandle.

Thanks for convincing another person that gun owners are total assholes.

$200 in ammo, and you can't afford a few bucks for water?  You'd rather steal?

Pensacola here, looks like that storm might cross over and head in the gulf, which will hit us dead on if it does.  I have to drive across a three mile bridge every day to get to work ... that should be interesting.

Same here. All the city's streets are lined with it. Nothing like giving the hurricane some extra ammo to toss around...
I just started getting used to having power and AC again.

I lived there in 88 when the bridge got hit by a barge... If you commuted by way of the bridge, you had to go by way of Navarre (hwy 87) for almost a year until it was repaired.

Bradenton, south side of Tampa Bay, checking in. Same preps as for Charley. I only need to fill the bait wells and secure the T-top on my trailered boat. I also need to locate my 12 VDC color television that I loaded out. Gen set, gas, water, food, batteries, flashlights check.

BTW, love the light sticks! Just enough light to get around in the dark without expending batteries.

Edited to add: I really feel bad for those that will be at the intersection (X) of Charley and Frances.

Navarre here. Still doesn't look bad for us in the panhandle, but our unit is talking about evacuating our planes to Kentucky again. I hope we don't have to leave again cause I hated the last evac.

Sumter County here. Last I checked we're dead nuts in the path. Only thing we got going for us is being more inland.

I've seen a category 4 storm. This one's a high 4, maybe a 5 when she hits..........

If you are in the path of this storm, and NOT in a concrete building, evacuate. This storm will leave a 75-100 mile wide swath of almost total destruction.

A genuine catastrophe........

This is the end of your world, as you know it, for a while..........

MOST of you will be in my prayers.......

Bunny, the hurricane is expected to go north of Lake Okeechobee.
That lake is about 120 miles north of Miami.
Ft. Pierce and Vero Beach are pretty much in the path of the hurricane.
I live in Miami. I'm not worried about it hitting
anywhere near Miami.
It won't tear Miami a new ass.
Please don't give out erroneous information.
Lives may depend on it.

I take it you intend to stay ?  Have you noticed that the predicted Florida landfall has been moved south on every 12 update in the last 72 hours ? Not trying to be chicken little but that has been the trend.

Saint Lucie county, appears to be ground zero at this time. Boarded up, but it may not look so good unless this storm shifts. If this thing hits, my house and most on my street won't stand. Just which guns do I take? I can't take them all, got my wife and baby to fit in
