In writing the AW 94 ban, why did they make it illegal to have a screw-on flash suppressor but it is ok to have one that is pinned or soldered on?

Believe your confusing the 2 devices, the AW ban restricts the use of flash-hiders (for diffusion of exhaust gases and to deny location recognition by the enemy, read that as reducing muzzle flash) but allows the use of muzzle-brakes (for recoil reduction) provided they are permanently installed on post-ban rifles. There is no restriction other than barrel length where these devices are concerned as they relate to pre-ban rifles. Mike
