Five fatally shot in Fairfax spree
By David Eldridge
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
December 26, 2005

Fairfax County police, investigating reports of gunfire at a Great Falls house on Christmas morning, found four bodies, evidence that led to another body 10 miles away and one unharmed survivor of an apparent shooting spree.

Officer Richard Henry, a department spokesman, last night said police believe the shooter was among the four bodies -- three men and one woman -- found at the house in the 10700 block of Sycamore Springs Lane.

"There were some family relationships among the victims. He was not a stranger," Officer Henry said of the apparent killer.

He said police were still contacting family members late last night and confirming the identifies of the dead.

Officers arrived at the Great Falls house around 10:25 a.m. when they responded to reports of gunfire.

The survivor, a 20-year-old man, came out, police said.

A tactical team's search and investigation at the scene led officers to another house about 10 miles away in the 8500 block of Lewinsville Road in Tysons Corner, where they found the body of a woman. Police said the same shooter appears responsible for all the deaths.

An animal-control official also took two dogs from the Great Falls house, one of which had been shot several times.

The shootings actually occurred outside the city limits of the District.  Obviously, D.C. itself is safe from tragedies such as this.

Prayers for those who were killed and for the survivor as well as their family members (if any survived.)
