It's the world's most bizarre sport, but it was good enough for Alexander the Great and George Washington. Don't knock it until you try it, it's addictive.

Essentially, you dress formally, are served a glass of sherry on horseback, then you follow a pack of crazed hounds wherever they go, through streams, over fences and walls, and once over a picnic table

After an hour or so, there are loose horses and lost hounds all over the county, one or two people are on their way to the emergency room, everyone's covered with mud and sweat, and you have a formal lunch.

It was a perfect fall day. We ran a fox and a coyote. There was one pretty good crash and it wasn't me. How much better does life get?

How do the hounds handle the heat this time of year?

Where in NH did you hunt fox? Is that what you guys down "below the Notch" do for fun?

That one was in Woodstock, Vermont. We have a few in southern NH, too. The best ones in New England are Myopia in Massachusettes and Norfolk in Rhode Island. There are great hunts all over Virginia and Maryland, sometimes we make it down there for "away games".

I was born and raised in Coos County NH and I never had any idea that there was any traditional style fox hunts there. We usually just shoot them instead of chasing them all over the place.

Heat? It's October in New Hampshire, my rebel friend. Our state motto is often misread as "Live Free or Die", but it's actually "Live, Freeze and Die.

So much fun it should be illegal!
It is illegal in Socialistland (Scotland)

Was banned in the "reversal of fun (Scotland) Act 2003"

That was a sad day. The animal rightists turned the issue into class warfare.

I hunted once in Ireland and almost wet my pants. I understand that saying now: "There are no bad Irish hunters, because they're all dead."

It was indeed class warfare. The fact that fox hunting existed was a non-issue. The libtards just wanted to see the upper classes get "defeated" again...
