jalopnik.com/379127/2010-ford-f+150s-new-44l-v8-diesel-engine-gets-leaked-to-internet

All I can say is FINALLY!!!!!!!

a 20% increase on Fuel Mileage, So about 20 MPG at least which is great for a 340 HP pickup
Link Posted: 4/14/2008 11:59:19 AM EST
nice!

I want 26+MPG though, maybe a 180-210HP diesel could get that?

I have a truck for utility, not towing heavy loads day in and out.

I think they already do in Europe... that will never make it over here though, because Diesels are teh evils

I hate liberals, everything should be fucking Diesel... They got 60 mpg Diesel VW passats running around while we have 40 MPG electric plastic pieces of shit.

And supposedly VW is coming out with a Diesel hybrid that gets 100mpg... which we will never ever see

My 05 F150 Super Crew FX4 has 13,400 miles on it.. I just don't drive it very far. I do get 20mpg on the highway, just really shitty in town because of the short distances I drive it.

The Loremo is a German car that gets 157mpg on diesel only.

Imagine if it were a hybrid...gotta love the restrictions we have on diesel in this country.

Great. More diesels on the road jacking demand up even further.

Wow. I'm impressed.

[ETA] Forgot to add - the F150 with the 5.4L is rated 13/17 MPG. So add 20% to those numbers and you get 15.6/20.4. Now subtract the cost of diesel, and pretty much any gas engine is STILL cheaper to run.

Yah it will have the Same HP, but with no broken Camshafts and a fully-boxed frame... Oh and it won't be overpriced either

lulz

Yes, i'm sure they will drive that concept PU 'straight up' Toy's ass.

Once again, Ford Fails.

Awesome.

Now if Ford will get there head out of their ass and make a diesel/electric hybrid F250 and i will be set!!!

So where the heck is the 2.2l I4 with 160bhp and 300 foot pounds? That's all I need and I would like to get 40mpg in a quarter ton.

Tell me about it. If I could have a diesel Camry instead of this gas one, I'd probably have it. Yeah, the fuel is more expensive per gallon, but the mileage increase would make up for it.

Come on now, don't piss in Ford's Wheaties Let them talk their shit.............it will be that much more of a letdown in 2 years when they figure out that they are still 5 years behind Yota and Nissan.

Oh, don't forget the 5-6k premium the deisel will cost, that has to get added into the fuel equation too

Isn't Yota supposed to drop a 6cyl deisel in the Taco and get close to 30 mpg in 2010? I was thinking i heard those rumors somewhere

What the F-150 can Tow more then the Tundra and it has 85 less HP and is 4 years older? Yah Toyota has said they want to get that 6cyl Diesel out... but its still just rumors

The new Ford motor is supposed to be the cat's ass, the numbers I saw on another site
were like 4.4L, 350 hp, 585 fp of torque and 32 mpg. Standard in the F-250 and as
an option in the F-150, the guys at Earthroamer are waiting to see one.

That would have been the way to go a turboed 6 with a nice power curve. Instead they stick with all the V* hype and gas and diesel will contunie to rise in this country. And we will sit around and bitch about prices but still buy crap like this.

Toyota's diesel should be out about then too so once again Ford can try to play catch up. Hopefully Ford with have learned their lessons, re. diesels, with the current crop of crap diesel engines.

Well unless you Toyota has factory long travel suspension and 35" tall tires from the factory and is capable of jumping Baja style then NOESSSS.

My 2007 F250 PSD get 21 mpg on the freeway, it weighs 7400 lbs with me in it, and runs 14.4s @ 93 mph in the quarter mile, all why being able to tow a 13000 lbs. Can your Yoda do that, no. Hell half ton trucks are for pussies.

Oh and Biodiesel is cheap too. And I change my oil every 8000 miles too so there.

I've seen the video of the Tundra on the Ford proving grounds and the excessive bed shake. It's ugly, but not a huge concern to me.

I'll just avoid truck proving grounds in the future.

Overpriced? I dunno - I thought it's a lot of truck for the money - about the same as the competition's 3/4 ton truck (with gas engine), and about the same tow capacity, but nicer ride, better fuel economy, and mo bettah technology.

I would assume that the 2010 Tundra is going to be revamped also - Toyota typically has a 3 year cycle.

But hey - no problem with competition. If the technology improves, we all win. The Tundra fit what I currently needed, and that's where my brand loyalty stops. I had a 2001 Silverado before that, and it was a great truck. I would have bought another one in a heartbeat if I didn't think Toyota had a better value for what I needed.

Wait a second, did you just say that the Tundra is comparable to the competition's 3/4-ton truck? According to Toyota's specs, that DOES NOT seem to be the case...

Except, your 2008 Tundra is a piece of junk thats just about to chuck the transmission.....Oh, wait, and you have a tailgate that will crack if you stand on it..

Oh wait.....Its also ugly!

Hmmmm tough decision

Just playing, but I do love the F150s

Not if theyre establishing dominance

F150s are half tons, and the Rapter is a Baja 1000 production truck not a 4.4L powered diesel as this thread was about.

The Rapter is getting the 6.2L Hurricane SOHC V8 engine with 400hp, think big block modular finally.
Link Posted: 4/14/2008 1:28:12 PM EST
Wow, looks like every other goddamn engine
Link Posted: 4/14/2008 1:33:49 PM EST
Concerning the Toyota being compared to the competition's 3/4-ton truck, I was able to find the following from Toyota's and GMC's websites:

All specs are listed for GAS engine trucks. On the Toyota, the specs are for their 5.7L engine, AFAIK, the biggest gas engine available. The specs for the GM are for the base 6.0L engine. Towing capacities are listed using the receiver hitch, NOT a gooseneck or 5th-wheel hitch.

Max Payload:
GM - 3,892 lb
Toyota - 1,580 lb

Advantage, GM - by 2,312 lb

Max Towing Capacity:
GM - 12,900 lb
Toyota - 10,300 lb

Advantage, GM - by 2,600 lb

However, the Toyota IS 212 lb heavier than the GM:

Curb Weight:
GM - 5,308 lb
Toyota - 5,520 lb

I think that Toyota simply tried to out-Dodge Dodge. They built the biggest truck they could reasonably get away with so that the people driving them could pretend that they're driving a big-rig. Unfortunately, it appears that Toyota didn't back it up with actual capability.
Link Posted: 4/14/2008 1:37:21 PM EST
The Tundra is a half ton not a 3/4 ton.

Link Posted: 4/14/2008 1:37:58 PM EST
My money's on Toyota. It's not being assraped by its own slacker "workers", and the UAW's other assorted benefit programs for the perpetually lazy.

By 2010, Ford may be just a subsidiary of Toyota.

Ford...stock's 5 bucks a share and probably overvalued at that.

CJ
Link Posted: 4/14/2008 1:41:07 PM EST
How cute, I went to Toyotas website and they allow you to compare the Tundra to a larger F250 truck, but only with the SMALLEST engine it comes with, the 5.4L SOHC, I guess Yoda is skurred to compare it to a 6.4L twin turbo diesel lol.

I could give a rats ass what Ford plans on coming out with, they will never see my cash, ever again. After four LONG years of BS problems with my Explorer and absolute abysmal customer service. Kiss my white Irish ass Ford.

After twenty years as a Toyota customer, I switched to Ford. It was then, I realized what a mistake it was to switch. I'm back with Toyota and will never stray again.

My Toyotas had to be return to dealerships for warranty issues four time in twenty years. Each time the issues were fixed professionally the first time and I was treated like a customer should be treated, with excellent service and respect.

My issues with Ford? I really do not have the patients to bring up all the issues up again. Let's just say it was unprofessional and borderline criminal.
