I am sitting here stunned that Hollyweird allowed that movie to ever be made.
Wow. The use of Sergeant MacKenzie at the end was problematic for my allergies. |

If only the cops were like that...it's like in Adam-12 where the cops are all nice and helpful and they never use that choke-hold thing they got sued over after killing a few dozen people or any of the wonderful racial stuff that was going on in the 60's. You'd think LA was a veritable utopia if it weren't for the truth.

They were a VERY no nonsense bunch. Just shocked that Hollywood would make a movie that portrayed cops in general, and more so LAPD as sympathetic characters. Which is, don't get me wrong, great, until someone forgets how to tell the criminals from the citizens and the wrong people get fucked up. I guess at least LAPD has the benefit of the distraction of real crime, so, at the very least they don't get bored and just chew on the wrong people...but, anyway, I still believe that there are good cops out there beyond my own friends. I want to believe. |

I didn't care much for the Blair Witch meets COPS style filming. As soon as the main character says he is filming for a school project I knew there would be herp involved. The trailer made it seem like they went to war with the cartels, it was still a watchable movie I just didn't care for the format of it.

Their chemistry was amazing! I really forgot that they were acting and was kind of immersed in the story line. Very entertaining IMO

I liked the story, the actors and acting, but not a well made movie. |

The "cop takes off badge and gunbelt to fist fight shit talking bad guy" is one of the lamest tropes ever. I first saw it in a movie about small town cops in Texas a few years ago. Can't remember the name of it.
Remember every call is action filled and or tragedy/heart ache. I genuinely hope LAPD doesn't curse like a Marine Corps rifle platoon as they are portrayed in the movie. Very unprofessional. |

Coincidence - I watched it last night on Netflix. I liked it.
I mean hell it's a fuckin movie - not some critique on cop behavior. |
|

Well, of course, real cops would find the show "Meh" as we live the realities of police work. Even more so for the large city cops like NY, LA, Chicago, etc. But for your average work-a-day Joe it was not bad, not academy award good ( whole nother subject) but for a little under 2 hours "story", not bad. |

Funny how they busted chops of the recruit on her very first patrol

Good flick. It was very surprisingly good. I was surprised as well. I had low hopes for it but thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked it. Final gun battle ruined it a little but overall solid movie if not uplifting. ETA: not possible to take 2 -3 mags of 7.62x39 to the back from 10 feet away and survive, even in Hollywood. Bottom line- if you don't have 40-60% of your cities cops made up of bad-asses, the violent criminals would take over. 4073 |

One of my favorite quotes from roll call in the 5th on the B platoon back in the day: "What the fuck dude?? You fuckin' kiss your fuckin' momma with that filthy-ass fuckin' mouth of yours? That's some disgustin' fuckin' shit you spewin', motherfucker." This was said in total seriousness, to me, as it happens, though I have cleaned up my language in the decade plus since. |

I've had dealings with MS-13 assholes and other gang type people. I was told I had a bounty on me after one such incident from his holding cell. Told I wouldn't live through the week. Matter of fact, I found a detailed map, a "hit" plan on another officer with license plate info, neighborhood layout, address, names of wife and kids, etc, taken off a suspect I searched one time. Scary shit when you think about how much info is out there and easy to get.
Even 8-9 months after leaving LE, I'm concerned about running into one of those former "clients" and is one reason I stay armed up wherever I go. I have a friend who was on Phoenix PD in the 1970's/80's, even on the SWAT team. He's far gone from LE work and is now getting concerned that some of the bad guys he put away 30 years earlier are getting out of prison. I only spent 6 years on the job. I still keep my vest in the car and lots of magazines. You have to watch what tail you pull and have a plan to deal with his teeth afterwards. |
