Good luck, I've had a fusion, no fun, but mine was in lower back, had to use a walker for six months, missed 1 1/2 years work. Like I said, good luck.

Well, I don't know you but good luck anyway. I think of everyone on this board as an extended family and wish you a speedy recovery. With the titanium plate you may have to change your user-name to Cyborg[:)]
Out of curiosity, how will this affect movement in your neck? Will you still be able to shoot a rifle? |

I can't relate to spinal injuries (although I can tell you a story or two about beer, snowmobiles and dislocated hips..) but me & mine will keep you in our prayers. Godspeed in your recovery.

Definitely bust your butt in therapy afterwards. My wife is a physical therapist and believe me, they can work wonders in getting people back to normal. Best wishes and good luck!

I had it done 12/17/02 after WTC injury. 2 discs removed the fusion and plates. Hope yours goes has smooth has mine did. The only problem is the loss of movement, which I didn't have anyway because it hurt too much to move. Hard to swallow until about a week ago. Still food gets stuck in my throat if not careful. Send me a message if you want any info Ill send you my Phone number if you want. Best of Luck also take it easy, wear the collar after make sure it fits right. If it doesn't let the Hospital know before you leave. Don 't make any sudden movements. It takes up to 6 months for the bone to fuse so be careful

If I was in PA, I'd stop by and visit you in the hospital to make sure you're ok. Do you have a number where your status can be checked on? I think we'll all want to know that everything will be ok with you.
And just to make sure, I'll call in a favor from the G man himself [:)] Hey, he gives out a free gift for every 1000 conversions...time to cash mine in. Good luck, buddy. |
