From boards.cramsession.com/boards/vbm.asp?m=684710

Apparently 43 states sued the music industry for price-fixing. If the court approves the settlement, the defendants (music companies) will pay $67,375,000 in cash to folks who bought their products.

If you bought a "prerecorded music product" (CD/tape/album) in the U.S. between January 1, 1995 and December 22, 2000 you can file a claim to receive part of the settlement $$$.

Sounds like the same BS line the gov pulled on Microsoft.  Next they'll tell us that the price of a pack of smokes is "fixed".

I wonder if this is real... seems like a good way for someone to set up a website and collect addresses (For selling to junk mail companies), email addresses (For SPAM) as well as the last 4 of your SS number (For hacking)...

I'm going to do some research on this one...

Just as an FYI, I always check out stuff to make sure it is legit before posting. It doesn't mean that I can't be fooled or might be wrong but I will have some supporting info.

If you search www.deja.com you will find many discussions referencing the settlement.

Here is a little bit more of a credible source, a little. www.msnbc.com/local/khq/m260763.asp

You fucking morons - sign up and KILL THIS THREAD.

It's not every day you can get free money.  If too many people sign up (about 9 million), there the amount each person gets is not worth the cost of postage, and the settlement goes to charity.

If relatively few people sign up, each will get $20.  So sign up, and DO NOT tell you friends.

[:D]

Hey - how can I modify my AR to fire full-auto???  Does anyone have diagrams or directions??   Come on mods - lock this already!! [:D]

Who pissed in your Cheerios?  This is not a hoax and I have provided links to prove it's authenticity. I don't think that posting this on AR15.com is going to result in you losing the chance to get your $20.

If you take time to read the articles you will see that a lot of people are not signing up.

As I stated before I am open to being proven wrong and learning something new. Please provide me with a link to a legitamite site that debunks the facts I have provided.

One question. Why are your panties in such a bunch about not getting your $20 if this is just a hoax?

Red Davis is a dumbass, all he has to do is find a company and sue them for billions.  Instantly the $35,000,000,000.00 budget shortfall will disappear.

Dude - did you see the little smiley thing? Allow me to explain, as humor clearly is a complicated thing.

It is not a hoax - the settlement is very real. I pointed that out in my first reply.

The problem I pointed out in that reply is also very real - if too many people sign up, nobody gets anything.  Free money is not as cool when you don't get any. Thus, to make sure YOU get a check, it is in your interest to NOT tell other people about it. Therefore, I do not want other people to sign up - because I like free money, more than I like strangers on the web who I don't know from Adam.

So, since topics get locked for inappropriate postings, I make a little joke of trying to post something inappropriate (but not actually so inappropriate the the topic WOULD get locked). To continue the joke (again, note the little smiley) - I reply to Mugzilla's post, telling every that it is a hoax, and they should all go back to sleep.

I submitted my claim.

I plan to use the funds to increase the memory size on my MP3 player.

I understand your point and the concept of a smiley face however the verbiage usually coincides with a smiley face when being sarcastic.  For example:

I post some valuable information here and assbag DK-Prof has to put in his two worthless cents.

[:D]

vs.

DK-Prof's opinion isn't worth crap but he does distribute nice midget porn.

[:D]

You will notice the existance of the smiley face after each statement. The first is a direct attack without following up with some humor complementing the smiley face.  The second transitions nicely to a smiley image.
