Specs:
Noveske 16" Recce Light Basic Rifle Larue 9" Rail TA33-8 ACOG Magpull AFG Geissele SSA Enhanced Trigger Rail Covers (Unsure of type as of now) Sling (Unsure of type as of now) Surefire scout light (do not know if this is best with the TA33) Pmags, lots of Pmags Ok, so do it all is not always best, but I think I am thinking it will be good out to say 600m or so, depending on the ACOG. Thoughts, improvements, suggestions? Anything you would change? |

Less high speed?
ETA to be more clear: It's fun to put EVERYTHING you ever wanted on a rifle and this one will damn sure be a beauty (especially with that noveske upper) but what exactly state side are you planning to do with it? Hit steel at 600 all day long? Varmit? Zombies?

Quoted: Quoted: Less high speed? So something more simple? Well for the price of that one you could three rifles that each do one thing using BCM stuff. Like a 20" SS for distance, an M4 for home defense and a 16" to take hunting with you. I would start by doing what you are trying to do there and build a match rifle. Something that'll shoot itself basically but put a decent scope on the top instead of an ACOG. Then, I'd get nice stereo system that plays a loop tape of the sound of a shotgun racking all day. Then I'd build a M4 with a red dot for CQB and that'll have the rails and the flashlights and a vibrate setting. After all that, I'd probably have sex with many women, without protection, on ambien. Finally, the Mid length ACOG build down the road for showing off that my dick is huge and my rifle kicks ass. Hit steel at 600 all day long? Varmit? Zombies? Looks like its going to be a nice rifle. Its your $$$ build it with whatever parts you want. I do have a story though. I know someone that is drawn to the most expensive AR15 parts on the market, LaRue, Noveske, etc. This person has had three very high end rifles built for them. The first rifle was a LaRue Stealth with a Nightforce NXS scope. Build was roughly $5K or so. After all the time and effort and $$$ spent the rifle wouldn't run, it was a Jammomatic. Rifle was sold and a new build was started. All Noveske parts, NXS scope. About another $5K was spent building the gun, top of the line parts all put on by an expert smith. Rifle wouldn't feed anything. Rounds would get hung up constantly. If you could get it loaded then it would fire but the bolt would stall out mid magazine. Gun sent back to smith several times, Noveske called several times, sent back to Noveske several times etc. Rifle sold, loss taken. New build started with all Noveske parts. Rifle built with all top of the line parts from Noveske, custom reticle U.S. Optics scope put on rifle. This build was more than $5K. Beautiful rifle. First trip to the range showed that the rifle would not cycle. Essentially a single shot rifle. The rifle has a switch block, but not matter what, after several trips back to the smith, several calls to Noveske lots more $$$, the rifle will not cycle correctly. It currently sits in the case with only a few rounds fired through it. I know these are very untypical experiences with these names and I personally would love a Noveske or LaRue rifle. However, I have learned that most expensive is not always better. I personally built my rifle in my living room. I have a DPMS lower, Stag 2H upper, YHM Lightweight rail, Magpul MOE stock, Ergo Suregrip, Magpul rear flip sight, stock front sight, Magpul BAD lever. I spent about $1100 or so on my rifle. My rifle will eat anything and is very accurate. I can easily hit a 12" metal plate at 225 yards with the iron sights. I haven't found a need for a red dot or a scope yet. I have a Remmy 700 .308 for long range scope killing. I have ran my rifle very hard and have not had a single failure. I decided to use it for deer hunting in Texas. One shot one kill on a nice Buck with a 64gr soft point. |

So you're blowing off my idea of building an M4 clone?!?!
J/K. Sounds sweet. You might rethink the Geissele SSA...I standardized on SSAs in my non-clone/training rifles and they are sweet but Geissele has come out with their new series of 3 gun and enhanced and C and etc....I haven't figured them all out yet, but it sounds like they are better than the SSA. AND GET HOME SAFE!!! |
|
I've got a better idea. Your money, you earned it, you buy what you want. Don't let anyone talk you into something you don't want or even three of something you don't want. Build what you want, the right way, the first time with quality parts (sans junky plastic BUIS).

I am shifting my hunting rifle money for the M4 clone..gonna have to make due with that Savage I have for hunting season when I get home... And yeah, I am going to be safe. Wife would kill me if I did not a least try. |

I just want some feedback on this...before pulling the trigger on what is essentially a metric crap ton of cash for a single rifle. (At least to me.) I am leaning towards your theory of building, and a plastic BUIS will not cut it for me. |

Get a longer rail. Stick with a mil-spec trigger. If 2 point is desired then get a vickers, if single point get the magpul

I am leaning towards Noveske for a specific reason- pricing. Got a good price lined up. |

I love me some Magpul but the M-BU(P)S sights do not do it for me. Tried 'em, really didn't like 'em.
I also tried MI. Broke pretty much straight away. Tried Matech. Broke, fixed with flamewrench, decided I hated the aperture. Troy folding battlesight, hallelujah, that's what I wanted all along and didn't know it. Just my $0.02 |

The one I'd replace is accurate and runs 100% though, just rather vanilla. |

I don't know what you are going for with you rifle but if you want an all around build you might look into an EOtech /w magnifier or Aimpoint /w magnifier if that is your flavor.

Centurion barrel
I had a stainless noveske. I shot it out at 10K rounds, which they said was right in the middle of its expected service life of 8-12K. I then got a Noveske N4L, but It groups around 3 inches with PRVI 75 gr OTM. I then bought a centurion, which is chome lined, and it averages around MOA with PRVI 75 gr OTM. Check out the spec sheet and see what you think. As a matter of personal preference, I like the Troy TRX Extreme rail. I would also take a look at the CSAT aperature for the troy BUIS. Click Here |
