Few studies have examined the mechanisms underlying this association. Government is full of academics, not rational people. Therefore grants like this fund academic "research", creating more positions for academics. .Mil spending pisses off academics. Ergo. 
Anecdote: I'm flying with a Reserve F-18 guy who said the squadrons (active and reserve) have about 30% readiness due to .gov laying off the contract maintenance people during sequestration and not hiring them back (because they moved on). Now, a squadron can only cover the 5 hours in 90 days minimum currency requirement. How many mechs could we hire with all the bullshit money spent on grants like this? Once again, people will die because of Socialist politicians. TC |
