Federal Lawsuit Against Gunmaker Thrown Out
Mar 11, 2006 4:55 pm US/Pacific
(AP) LOS ANGELES A Los Angeles judge has tossed out a lawsuit against the maker of the handgun used to kill a mail carrier in 1999.

Joseph Ileto was shot to death by white supremacist Buford Furrow, who also wounded children and employees at a Jewish community center in Chatsworth. Furrow is serving a life sentence.

Ileto's family sued the Glock gunmaker for negligence, claiming it created an illegal secondary market for its weapons.

But a federal judge threw out the suit Monday. The judge cited a law passed by Congress last fall that bars shooting victims from suing firearms companies.

This is the Glock 9mm handgun, allegedly used by Buford O. Furrow to shoot and kill mail carrier Joseph Ileto during a rampage at a Jewish community center in Chatsworth in 1999.

I think the victims families should be able to sue all living relatives parents and above of this guy for spawning a menace to society...

Just kidding, but going after gun companies is just a money grab, like suing GM cause a drunk driver was in a Camero when he/she ran over someone...

that's at least a step back toward sanity.

they should throw out the tobacco lawsuits next.

the judicial system is quickly making personal responsibility a thing of the past

Just wait till the leftist judges decide not to apply it. I'll bet it happens eventually.

Unfortunately though, I believe a NY judge is allowing lawsuits against gunmakers to go through in spite of the legislation that Congress passed to prevent them.
