Fuck Ron Moore. BSG was totally awesome and he shit the bed, HARD in the final seasons.
I've been a Star Trek fan my entire life. It's very hard to be a Trek fan, because they put out so much "meh" over the life of the franchise. Even the hardest of hardcore fans that doesn't admit there were countless episodes that were nothing but suck are simply lying to themselves. I won't comment on Star Wars. Three very solid movies based on the archetypal journey, and three pieces of complete garbage. Meh. Stargate, for its many, many flaws is the superior franchise. I can tell you about bad episodes, continuity problems, etc. But the good far outweighs the bad. |

I don't think Firefly missing is a poll fail, myself.
The question is the best franchise. Firefly is not a franchise. It didn't even last an entire season. May fuck be upon Fox for all of eternity. Seriously, if I didn't make that clear enough, FUCK FOX. |

Battlestar Galactica.
Yeah, they totally screwed up the last episode of BSG, but the rest of it was phenomenal. Its like saying Star Wars sucked because they are associated the prequels exist. Other than a few clips from DS9 and TNG, there really hasn't been a show to have so much great combat as was in BSG. It starts off with killing off over 30 billion people via nuclear warfare - how much better can you start a series? Edward James Almos is arguably the best portrayal of a starship commander. I would take him over Ackbar, Kirk, Picard, and any of the others listed. Saul Tigh was arguably one of the most hardcore characters of any sci-fi series - what other man can look like John McCain, deal with themes of torture (by having your eye ripped out of its socket), only to have Ellen do what she did on New Caprica, and his answer to what she did? Stargate followed by Battlestar Galactica. They really fucked up the direction of BSG though with the last 2 seasons. The final five bullshit got retarded, as did their apparent retcon for where the series was heading. Star Wars and Star Trek are probably tied for a distant 3rd. Star Wars could be a lot better if they dropped some of the idiotic EU stuff and the prequels.
