Anyone have a favorite riff that they seem to play everytime they pick up their guitar? For me it is the acoustic solo in "What I Got" by Sublime.

I always liked the beginning of nirvana's "man who sold the world"

yes I know it is a David Bowie cover, but I have never heard his version so I don't know if they are the same. And I don't know the music for it, I don't know how to read music, I just listened to it and played it until I got it right

I like main riffs from "The Ocean" and "No Quarter" by Zepplin.  Actually, just about any and every Jimmy Page riff.  He's the master

I like to play that CCR song "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" or "Seen The Rain" or whatever the proper name is. It's pretty easy, and fun too. Now, SUBLIME. I haven't played any of that stuff in a long time. Thanks for the idea!

Rush: Limelight (don't care what you think about Getty Lee's voice, it's a great riff - If I pick up the electric, I will almost always run through this riff for some reason - maybe lame, but I can test the sound on any guitar/amp with this riff and know how most other songs will sound in just a few seconds)

Ten Years After: I'd Love To Change The World (one of the first riffs I HAD to learn, and it sounds good on an electric or acoustic)

ETA: Just picked up the guitar and forgot the one I almost always play - Van Halen: Drop Dead Legs.

You all probably just guessed (accurately, I might add) that I stink on the guitar.  Maybe someday if I practiced more and didn't have so many broken fingers I would get to a stage of less stinkage, but unlikely I'll ever be great at it.  I just enjoy it, and don't worry too much about how I sound.  Plus, I bought my house from a drummer and have a sound proof room to practice in, so the family isn't injured by my lack of talent.

But if I had to pick just one of those, it would be the chorus riff from Machine Gun Majesty

I think an odd one.

The intro riff to "Long cool Woman".
I don't like the rest of the song... but I like the hell outta the opening riff.

The break in "Badge" by Cream

The break in "It don't come easy" by Harrison

Hmm they all have a commonality, don't they?

I forgot to add "Classical Gas" my Mason Williams
