This is machined out of aluminum. It is 8" in diameter and was roughed out with
a 1/4 ball nose end mill and finished with a 1/8" ball nose end mill.

How long did the entire process take?

Were you using a flood or high pressure coolant system?

you should do some AR lowers with the mag well like that.

Pretty good while. Our machine does not run at the required RPMS for Al and it is a
very long program. The finish cut the endmill move over .005 each cut so you can imagine.
Less than a shift though

you should do some AR lowers with the mag well like that.

Yup, that would look real good and would not take near as long on a smaller scale as that.
It could be just engraved in the surface fairly fast. This new graphics software is the s**ts.
You can actually take a picture and import it and do a 3D surface out of it. That is sorta the
way we did this one

What kind of VMC are you running?
Waht shop do you work at?
With a .005 stepover, that took a LONG time to finsh huh???
Sweet.
I don't do that much 3-D at work, but lots of Aluminum parts. God, other that 4140 Ht why would anybody want to machine anything else?

This is just a center piece for a display we will have at a big show the end of the month, but
yes, it would make a badass cover

We are running a Mazak machining center. This be the same one we run the tubes on.

Here are some more pics

these are coasters before and after bead blast:

This is a new wheel. the shot shell ends were made separate. The shot sells will be chromed and the wheel polished and andodized. The shot shells will also have the letters painted in. The wheel will look a lot better after it is polished out.

I need to see if Aimless has a good poster with the ARF emblem on it. We tried the one off the
site and it is too dirty. (pixles are all FUBARED)
