Yeah I know all you computer experts know all the tricks and your Internet weenies are twice as long as mine

I was simply looking at the local Arms List ads and some hacker website attack my computer on one of the single Internet explore open pages

I can't exit out of that page it won't allow me to shut it and close it saying if I do close the page bad things will happen blah blah blah

I am able to open another tab on Internet explore and just use the computer like regular but I really want that annoying warning an open tab to go away permanently

In the past I've started in safe mode and reset the computer to like last weeks info or whatever it's called but I don't know all the steps to do so?

If someone can walk me through step-by-step how I can remove this quickly safely and easily that would be great

I didn't open any PDF files there any mystery emails with attachments or anything I was just simply looking at Arms List and it really pisses me off that their site would allow a hack like that to happen automatically

I'm jumping in the shower and will check the solutions here in about a half an hour from my iPad

Really appreciate it thank you

Looks like I managed to make it disappear by cycling my computer on and off a bunch of times I did do the control alt delete thing but that wouldn't close the page earlier

I wish all the people that created those problems and scammed and installed that bullshit automatically to try to fuck with our computers I wish they would all be strong together by their balls with Barbwire and drug by a brodozer across broken glass

You need to scan and clean for malware.

Run Windows Defender and clean it all. Then start using Firefox with Adblock plus installed.

Probably nothing to clean.  It's just a website that looks like a virus warning or the Mafia/NSA/Clique Mob/Russian Hackerz/etc. are seizing control of your computer until you pay a ransom.  I've seen them from time to time.  Just kill your browser with Task Manager.  That's the easiest way.

For future reference ... what is the step by step process to 'kill my browser' ?

ALT + F4 works as well to close down open programs.

But with Ctrl-Alt-Del -> Start Task manager -> Processes -> select your browser -> click End Process button in bottom right corner.

Ctrl-alt-esc --> brings up task manager --> right click on your browser in the list of processes and select "end process."

no offense to OP but this thread gave me a laugh

sounds like my dad calling me at work. (I have a career in IT)

"hey what the hell is this popup on my screen right now"

I dont know dad, I cant see your screen with a phone call.

Also as other's have said OP, do yourself a favor and use firefox instead of IE.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=firefox-com

A quick scan with windows defender wont hurt either just to make sure.

OP,

download "Malwarebytes". Install it and run a scan.

Malwarebytes

It will quarantine what it finds, then let you kill it.

If you really want to "clean" your rig...

I suggest,

Downloading and installing,

1. ESET Online Scanner
2.RogueKiller
3.SecurityCheck
4.OTL

If all else fails,

go to Bleeping Computer dot com,

and download and install a program named, "ComboFix".

I did not post a link,because.....

It is HIGHLY recommended though, before you run ComboFix,
to run a program  called "HiJackThis", and post your results on their Forum, as many there will guide you on your next steps.
You may have to change some Registry entries,
but their help will be very specific on what/how to do it.

You do know where "Registry" is and how to open it?

Also,
download "CCleaner" and "Spybot Search and Destroy".
Run CCleaner after each day,and SpyBot once a week.
