Get Glock Tool
Press pin on bottom of mag in with Glock tool
While the tool is still in the hole, use it to slide off the bottom plate.

In the field I push in the bottom pin with a handcuff key and press the back edge of it against a hard surface. IE table. Takes some work, but it will come off.

Put Center Punch in Vise with punch tip up, put mag on punch to depress button, push or pull depending on which way mag is facing, it takes quite a bit of force to overcome the ears/indents on the mag, reinstalling is a snap, just push down spring/bottom button plate and slide on +2 bases.

Stick a nail or small screwdriver in the hole, squeeze the sides, and torque the screwdriver. It will pop off. It's more about finesse than force.

I always just used an Allen wrench, stick it down the hole and pry it off.

I use locking pliers or small vice - there is no easier way.

The first time I took one off it took forever too.
Once you get it you'll be able to do it in seconds.
