DPS ISSUES AMBER ALERT
NOTE--FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS AMBER ALERT, PLEASE CONTACT THE HIDALGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT 956-383-8114. DPS HAS NO FURTHER INFORMATION.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued an Amber Alert for a 17-year-old girl abducted west of FM 492 near Alton at 11:21 p.m. Wednesday night.

Gloria Guel, a 17-year-old white female, is five feet, three inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and has tattoos on her right shoulder and on her lower back. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and blue pants.

Sheriff’s deputies are seeking Hugo Gomez, 37, in connection with the abduction. He is five feet, four inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. .

Gomez is believed to be driving a 1997 or 1999 blue Ford Explorer with Texas license plate 278 CKB.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Gloria Guel, Hugo Gomez or the 1997 or 1999 blue Ford Explorer with Texas license plate 278 CKB should contact their local police department.

The Texas Amber Alert Network is designed to work in coordination with local abduction alert plans and is not intended to supersede activation of local plans. To activate the Texas Amber Alert Network, the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction must determine that an abduction meets the following state criteria:
?    The abducted child must be 17 years of age or younger.
?    The local law enforcement agency must believe that the child has been abducted, that is, unwillingly taken from their environment without permission from the child’s parent or legal guardian or by the child’s parent or legal guardian who commits an act of murder or attempted murder during the time of the abduction.
?    The local law enforcement agency must believe that the missing child is in immediate danger of serious bodily harm or death.
?    The local law enforcement agency must confirm that an investigation has taken place that verifies the abduction and has eliminated alternative explanations for the missing child.
?    Sufficient information is available to disseminate to the public that could assist in locating the child, the suspect, or the vehicle used in the abduction.

Glad she was located unharmed.

Now that *that's* out of the way, two things immediately jumped out at me:

1) That girl's not too substantial (5'3", 120lbs [though the weight is possibly an estimate]).
2) Her [I'm assuming] alleged abductor didn't have too much on her in the height/weight categories.

Not that any of that actually *means* anything; just an observation.
