But I hope to have made up for my transgression today.

After almost 4 years of ownership I finally shot my U.S. Semiautomatic Rifle, Caliber .30, M1.

.gov Springfield Armory, December 1943 S/N reciever. rebarrelled in Feb 1951.

The greatest battle implement ever devised

I ran 1 1/2 bandoliers of 30.06 thru it this afternoon while my friend/customer was breaking in the barrel of his Rem Police M700 .308.

We had 3 Garands out there.

IT WAS GREAT!

I confirmed her zero and not to brag or anything but I am pretty damn good with a Garand. I wore the 250 yd gong out and made quite a few hits on the 300.

HEY, dont bust my bubble, OK

300 is all the room we have at the Club range anyway

Triple H around here though, It was pretty damn hot today.

All is forgiven, my son

The Garand is, quite possibly, the ultimate rifle in many respects. I don't find it sacreligious not to have fired it, given the cost and availability of 30.06 in these dark and troubled times. It's just one of those rifles most people should have, and everyone should get to fire at least once in their lifetime. Congrats on the (belatedly) new toy!

Love that stock! That is one beautiful rifle. Good to go!

Here's mine. Excuse me while I whip this out...

All three are Springfield Armory. Top one is a six-digit (August 1941); middle is a 1 million (December 1942); and the bottom one is a 4.2 million (sometime between June and December 1952).

I love shooting Garands! Whoo-hoo!
